Description

The Swope Family of Dealerships has locations throughout the Hardin County area and Louisville. Swope has been in the Hardin County area for over 70 years. The Staff Accountant will provide financial, analytical, administrative, and clerical support by ensuring bank reconciliations, journal entries, vendor payments, and preliminary financials are completed efficiently and timely. Controls expenses by receiving payments, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Payroll journal entry verification and uploads.
  • Payroll Processing Backup with training two to three times a year.
  • Responsible for paying and reconciling all Benefit Invoices that require an extra level of detail against the employees’ payroll checks
  • Bank Deposit Processing Backup with training two to three times a year.
  • Bank Reconciliations the 15th and the end of each month.
  • Verifying all inter-franchise transactions.
  • Helping with all Parts Inventories 
  • Processing multiple companies accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, etc.
  •  Reporting sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices.
  • Provide accurate and effective document preparation and records management relative to the these functions in accordance with records retention policies and procedures.
  • Working with the CFO, Controller, Assistant Controller, and team members on other projects or duties as needed.
  • Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Accounting Preferred. Minimum of Associates Degree or equivalent from a two year college with a focus in Accounting.
  • 3-5 years overall Accounting Experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and or payroll.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in MS Office Products with advanced knowledge of Excel
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Effective organizational skills and excellent time management abilities
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
  • Maintains a positive attitude at all times
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member
