Switchpoint is looking to hire Shelter Support Staff for our new Micro-Shelter in Salt Lake City.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Organization: Friends of Switchpoint is a non-profit organization that has been serving those individuals, families and veterans who are experiencing poverty and homelessness since 2014.

Mission: To empower families and individuals in need by addressing the underlying causes of their poverty and providing each client with a personalized, comprehensive plan that supports them on their journey to self-sufficiency and the opportunity to contribute to the community.

Job Responsibilities:

• Embrace and uphold Switchpoint's mission, values, and Staff Code of Conduct.
• Adhere to West Valley City regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service to clients, community members, volunteers, and donors.
• Remain vigilant and responsive throughout assigned shifts.
• De-escalate crisis situations with empathy and professionalism.
• Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
• Coordinate emergency responses for medical and criminal incidents.
• Direct individuals to appropriate resources and services.
• Demonstrate compassion and attentive listening while enforcing shelter rules.
• Establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients, offering support with accountability.
• Conduct client intakes, including bag searches and orientation to shelter protocols.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of shelter facilities.
• Document significant client interactions accurately.
• Safeguard client confidentiality and report suspected neglect or abuse promptly.
• Perform regular safety checks to ensure program security.
• Review and document all telephone communications and activities according to policy.

Compensation:

Starting at $19/hour. Switchpoint offers a benefits package that includes Medical/Vision/Dental, Transportation Allowance, Paid Time Off, IRA w/3% Match

Schedule:
Swing Shift (3pm-11pm)
