POSITION TITLE: Lifeguard REPORTS TO: Varies

EFFECTIVE DATE: Varies 

I.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure a safe facility and pool for the members under supervision of the pool manager. Maintain current Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certifications.

II.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Greet, acknowledge and engage with members 

• Provide Surveillance for members in the water

• Foster safe environment out of the pool and in the facility

• Utilize training and customer service skills to educate members on rules and policies

• Effectively respond to emergency situations in a timely manner

• Perform routine facility cleaning and upkeep as instructed by manager

• Any other assigned tasks similar in nature by facility manager/supervisor 

• Be able to complete fitness swims and other necessary tasks of lifeguard certification

III.TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• Starguard Institute Certified Lifeguard or alternate certification by Aquatic Safety Director

• Must attend continuous training opportunities offered by SwimSafe.

• Must be at least 15 years of age

• Customer service experience preferred 

IV. ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: walking, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Medium Work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
