Position Type: PRN/ Full Time
Reports to: Cardiopulmonary Director
Department: Cardiopulmonary
Summary/Objective: Under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Director and upon the request of the physician, the Echo tech will perform conscientious quality patient care procedures utilizing standards and procedures set forth in the Policy and Procedure manual. Other duties include, but are not limited to any associated paperwork.
Essential Functions:
1. Echo technicians are responsible for preparing patients and diagnostic equipment for imaging procedures.
2. The technician will explain the procedure to the patient.
3. The technician will be responsible for determining which of the images should be saved and will be responsible for preparing a report and forwarding the report along with the images to the physician for interpretation.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Work Environment:
Work in varying degrees of temperature (heated or air conditioned).
Work under extreme pressures.
Work with the risk of possible exposure to various communicable or infectious diseases.
Work with risk of possible exposure to hazardous and toxic chemicals that require special care in their usage.
Physical Demands:
Position requires light to moderate work with 50 lbs maximum weight to lift and carry without assistance. Anything over 50 lbs the employee will have another person help them or use some type of lift device.
Duties may require reaching, bending, stretching, stooping and handling objects with hands and/or fingers.
Position requires the ability to walk the length of the hospital on own.
Position requires the ability to help move a patient with another employee or a lifting device.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
A mutual agreement between employee and Director of Cardiopulmonary will establish available required days and times.
Schedule will be determined on an as needed basis.
TRAVEL
Tech may be asked to transport completed tests on USB to the interpreting physician’s office. The tech will need to supply a copy of his/her current Texas driver’s license and proof of auto insurance coverage for vehicle used in travel. The tech will be re-imbursed for mileage and time spent delivering test at the current Sweeny Community Hospital rate.
Requirements
Required Education, Experience and License
Tech must be registered by ARDMS or CCI and maintain certification.
Tech must have the ability to acquire a working proficiency with various cardiovascular tests.
Employee must have and maintain a current BLS card.
