Sweeny Community Hospital is Hiring a Dietary Tech- (Full Time) Near Sweeny, TX

Description

Classification: Non-Exempt 

Position Type: Full-time 

Reports to:  Dietary Supervisor 

Department: Dietary Services

Summary/Objective:

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Comply to Hospital wide and department policies.

2. Assist in preparation of meals. Prepare patient meals and/or supplements during weekend duty according to patient requirements documented on cardex system.

3. Contact Dietary Supervisor regarding any abnormal or concerning request for items outside of standard dietary restrictions for clarification.

4. Control and maintain hours worked within the schedule, getting approval of any overtime from Dietary Supervisor in advance and as needed.

5. Document and retain required records within the department to ensure compliance to regulations such as CMS, DHHS, TFER (Texas Food Establishment Regulations) such as dishwasher temps, three sink temps, cooler and freezer temperatures as well as food expirations.

6. Maintain common area and café stocking of drinks, condiments, flat ware, paper products and other essential items.

7. Maintain proper housekeeping and refuse removal of dietary area, to include café sitting area.

8. Maintain and sanitize dishes in accordance to requirements as well as properly storing items after clean and use.

9. Utilize approved cleaning techniques to patient and ancillary services to maintain sanitization levels as required.

10. Assist in restocking of inventory upon delivery and inspection of food items.

11. Complete required education.

12. Other duties as needed and directed by Dietary Supervisor that may be required to ensure the success of the department in providing essential nutritional plans.

Competencies:

Maintain professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in SCH employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, general public, patients, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times. 

Ability to read and follow directions, such as recipes.

Computer knowledge, utilizations of hospital provided email and employee portal programs.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment:

Common work environment is indoor controlled environment frequented by the public, patients, visitors and staff. Within the cooking and prep areas, the environment can quickly change from preparation, serving and standard housekeeping activities. Standard housekeeping equipment routinely used includes, brooms, mops, dust mops, carts, cleaning agents, floor equipment. PPE as required under certain conditions include caps, aprons, safety glasses, as well as other for protection of patients and employees.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described as follows are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling, and moving objects up to 50 lbs. Exposure to hot and cold environments while working within kitchen from equipment such as ovens, grills, coolers and freezers. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and core hours of work are Monday through Sunday from 6am to 5pm to ensure proper nutrition to our patients, visitors, family and employees. Typical schedules will flex, to include weekend rotations and a standard work week consisting of 40 hours. Overtime may be required as needed and approved by management.

TRAVEL

No travel is required for this position. 

Requirements

Required Education, Experience and License

Certified Food Handler, annual Healthnet (HIPPA, EMTALA, Safety Storm, NIMS).

Preferred Education, Experience and License

No experience up to 3 years of experience within Healthcare Dietary environment.
