Support the District’s Human Resources Office (HRO) by managing Total Rewards Program and priorities in a fast-paced and team-oriented work environment. As part of the Human Resources team, this HR professional will be responsible for overseeing the administration of all benefits, retirement, and wellness program activities. Some key skills include excellent communication (both oral and written), attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

The District supports employees who prefer flexible schedule or a remote work schedule so that they can enjoy their time outside of the District through work-life balance. This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will be required to come on-site for periodic meetings and work a portion of their time remotely (must live in Florida). Starting Compensation:$57,678.40 - $79,494.10

The starting salary range for the Human Resources Professional position reflects the minimum to 50% of the compensation. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.

Essential Functions

  • Administers and coordinates all benefits, retirement, and wellness programs and coordinates issue resolution with vendors, brokers, and internal customers.
  • Promptly responds to benefits inquiries from all District employees on benefit plans enrollments, status changes, and other general benefit inquiries.
  • Conducts audit processes relating to benefit elections, retirement contributions, leave usage, and carrier interfaces.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for employees, vendors, and brokers on benefits, retirement, wellness, and leave.
  • Assists with all benefits plan designs, contracts, and related processes.
  • Assists new employee benefits enrollment and coordinates with the broker for ongoing educational sessions.
  • Responsible for benefits, retirement, leave, and wellness program projects such as Open Enrollment and Benefits Fairs.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State requirements including HIPAA, FMLA, ACA, and COBRA.
  • Participates on District Wellness Committee

Working Conditions

Employee works in a standard office environment. Occasional travel to the Tampa office may be required during open enrollment and relationship building with District staff. Performs continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Occasionally lifts and carries objects up to 10 pounds. Occasionally requires bending and reaching above shoulder level. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Required Credentials for Total Rewards Professional Opportunities

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in human resources, business, or related field
  • Five (5) years related experience in human resources (HR) (equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience
  • Good communicator and a team player

Preferred Credentials for Total Rewards Professional Opportunities

  • Three (3) years related experience in benefits and/or wellness programs
  • Some coursework related to HR
  • Experience with benefit contracts and working with brokers and vendors
  • Experience with self-funded insurance plans
  • Experience with HRIS systems, specifically UltiPro (UKG)
  • HR Generalist experience
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) certification, Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel

Additional Details

The primary work location for this position is out of the Brooksville, FL office. This position is eligible for compensatory time for hours worked over 40 hours, in a week.

Yes. Some travel, using District vehicle, within District's coverage area.
