Job Summary:The Dietary Cook is under general supervision of the Dietary Manager and performs food preparation and production tasks efficiently and accurately. The Dietary Cook consistently follows safe food handling policies and procedures, recipes and plating instructions to offer the highest quality customer service to OakLeaf’s patients and guests.

Hours:

- Full-Time: 40 hours per week

- M-F: 11:30AM to 8:00PM 

- Weekend and Holiday rotation

- Starting Rate: $17.00 - $23.42 per hour based on years of experience 

Essential Job Functions:• Prepares food according to diet extension recipes and food production sheets
• Performs food production work efficiently, while monitoring a neat and sanitary work area (including doing dishes and cleaning)
• Takes food orders via telephone and fax
• Ensures appearance of all food items is per standard
• Ensures temperatures of all food items are documented and corrective action taken when needed
• Ensures that the production/tally sheets are completed without mistakes or shortages
• Promptly reports malfunctioning equipment or food shortages to supervisor
• Demonstrates a conscientious attitude in daily operations through portion control and reducing waste
• Utilizes leftovers effectively by creating special and marketable products
• Reports to the Dietary Manager any problems that arise throughout the shift related to food safety or food production
• Monitors procedures on proper food handling, portion control, cooling, labeling and storage of leftovers
• When training new staff, provides instruction and guidance to new Dietary staff, ensuring they are trained in proper food safety procedures
• Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections, and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately
• Demonstrates effective leadership skills and abilities
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and others
• Displays a positive attitude toward job and others
• Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively as a team
• Offers exceptional customer service to patients and customers
• Has the ability to work additional hours and in different areas if needed
• Regular and prompt work-site attendance
• Completes all other tasks and related duties as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge & Ability:• Prior food production experience.
• Ability to read, write, perform basic counting duties, and understand directions.
• Wisconsin ServSafe Certification must be completed and obtained within six (6) months of employment.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Presents a positive attitude and a spirit of teamwork at all times while working in the department.
