Saw Operator Lead
Summary of Position
The Saw Operator Lead is responsible for leading warehouse employees during an assigned shift. They are front-line workers who lead a small team while doing the same work as the other employees.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Saw Operator Lead. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
Supervise team to meet company expectations of customer satisfaction, productivity and on-time delivery.
Adhere to add Sunshine Metals’ safety rules, regulations and quality standards and ensure compliance from team members as well.
Report important events or problems to the proper level of management.
Lead the team to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
Change work roles of members of the team, such as reassigning tasks, as necessary.
Coordinate schedules, assign responsibilities and make sure that everything runs smoothly during the assigned shift.
Work closely with the Production Manager to meet organizational goals.
Perform duties in compliance with Sunshine Metals’ policies and procedures.
Understand the BTS System as it applies to warehouse and production functions:
Plan Production Orders in BTS
Receive Material into BTS
Ship Material from BTS
Safely and properly operate cranes, fork trucks and apply safe rigging.
Maintain and train team members on latest revisions to company policy/procedure.
Process orders according to customer cut to size specifications on one or more saws.
Ensure orders are processed per specification and on time without exception.
Pull and stage material to be processed at saw.
Retrieve material from the plate racks using a fork truck.
Measure material to exact requirements.
Enter data for the exact specifications onto the appropriate form for data entry into the computer.
Assist in the packaging and receiving of shipments and in weekly inventory cycle counts.
Use precision when operating tools such as tape measures, micrometers, nibblers, and calipers.
Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Two or more years of related experience working with saws or machinery.
Basic computer skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Good organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
Ability to read and calculate numbers and data
Ability to measure using different tools
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction
Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers
Strong work ethic; self-motivated
Preferred Qualifications
One or more years in the metals service center industry

Working Conditions
Good working conditions. Frequent visual/auditory attention and involvement required to place tags on appropriate materials. Requires continuous use of computer to receive and give information. Exposure to hazardous machinery, sharp tools, proximity to moving objects, noise, heat, humidity.
