Diesel Technician – Kearny Mesa Ford & KiaJob Summary:We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Diesel Technician to join our team! As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of diesel engines and components for our fleet of trucks and other vehicles. You will be expected to have a strong knowledge of and understanding of diesel engine systems and components. Your ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems quickly and efficiently will be key to your success in this role. You will also need to have excellent customer service skills as you will be dealing with customers and their vehicles. If you are passionate about working with diesel engines and have the experience and skills to match, we want to hear from you! Responsibilities:- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and other related components- Troubleshoot and diagnose engine performance issues- Replace and repair worn parts and components including pistons, rings, bearings, seals, and valves- Perform preventative maintenance and tune-ups on diesel engines- Use special tools such as timing lights, compression testers, and scan tools to diagnose and repair engines- Repair and adjust fuel injectors, fuel lines, and fuel pumps- Inspect and test vehicle electrical and electronic systems- Rebuild engines and other components as necessary- Install and adjust engine components and systems- Maintain records of maintenance and repair work performed- Monitor and adjust engine performance parameters such as fuel pressure, air-fuel ratios, and timing- Perform diagnostic tests to identify and diagnose engine malfunctions- Use computerized diagnostic equipment to diagnose and repair engine-related problems- Other duties may be assigned as needed Reading Skills/Abilities:- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics- Must have knowledge of hydraulics and electronic systems- Must possess basic math skills- Must have strong mechanical aptitude- Must be able to use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and repair systems Education/Experience:- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent- Must have experience working on diesel engines- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required for this role. Physical Requirements:- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions- Must be able to work in tight spaces- Must be willing to work long hours and weekends when needed
