SUNRISE SERVICES INC is Hiring a SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER PROFESSIONAL TRAINEE Near Mount Vernon, WA

Join our Behavioral Health Team as a Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee in Mount Vernon, WA!

We are expanding our SUD programs and looking for client centered clinicians that appreciate a healthy work culture to join our expanding team.

About the Program:

Trainees will be closely supervised with the goal of fully demonstrating proficiency in the core counseling competencies expected for certification, as well as providing clinical services for the organization. Trainees will be tutored daily by lead counselors with special expertise as well as required to attend weekly clinical staffing and group internship meetings. Trainees are expected to become certified counselors within four years of commencing training and show progression in attainment of proficiencies. Trainees are responsible for keeping records of their hours of experience for the purposes of certification, and for obtaining signatures of the supervising SUDP or other designated SUDP when completing patient records, correspondence, and other documents. 

Essential Functions: (Tasks, Responsibilities, and Competencies. May not include all duties of this job)

In the course of this training the trainee will participate in the following:

  • Provide individual and group counseling and educational groups in accordance with organizational curricula, policy and procedure and under close supervision of the clinical supervisor, with expectation of attaining competence.
  • Demonstrate competence in conducting chemical dependency assessments in accordance with ASAM PPC, organizational policy and practices, and under the signature of a supervising SUDP. Trainee will learn to do assessments for ADATSA eligibility, TANF, DCFS, legal evaluations and other evaluations.
  • Develop, review at least monthly individualized treatment plans following the ASAM Patient Placement Criteria, amending as appropriate.
  • Record patient notes on the day of contact, and ensure files are maintained in accordance with organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely, complete communication and treatment progress reports to the courts, referents and resource agencies, as appropriate.
  • Work effectively with other outpatient team members in planning and developing instructional strategies and programs appropriate to the total needs of the patients.
  • Conduct family educational sessions.
  • Appropriately share office space with other staff.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and counselor intern meetings.
  • Share in covering groups and assessments for absent counselors.
  • In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in this job description or tasks that may be assigned on an as needed basis.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of and familiarity with the disease of addiction, withdrawal, and treatment resources for recovery, including 12-step philosophy and programs.
  • Reliable work attendance 
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and setting a positive example of behaviors for patients.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Windows, Word and Outlook; able to keyboard intermittently approximately 2 hours a day.
  • Participate collaboratively and professionally in a team environment.
  • Maintain professional demeanor at all times with patients, visitors, other agency staff, and community agency representatives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with 42 CFR, 45 CFR, RCW 70.96A, and related patient health care laws and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current registration by Washington State Department of Health and continued progress toward Chemical Dependency Professional certification.
  • An associate's degree in human services or related field from an approved school; or
  • Successful completion of ninety quarter or 60 semester college credits in courses from an approved school.
  • Maintain current TB test and First Aid/CPR documentation.
  • No history of misuse of alcohol or other drugs for a minimum of one year priorto employment with Sunrise Services and has not received patient’s services from Sunrise Services in the past four (4) years. Employer is a drug-free workplace, and employees will agree to random and for-cause drug testing policies.
  • Ability to work with diverse ethnic populations, and people with different problems
  • Maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s license and auto insurance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The duties are performed primarily in an office setting requiring sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, finger dexterity, ability to grip with hands and fingers, sense of touch, ability to speak and hear voice conversations, and occasionally lifting of up to 10 pounds. Intermittent keyboarding, generally less than 2 hours a day.

Compensation:

  • $22 - $24.50/hour
  • Wages are determined by applicable industry experience, education, and certifications/licensure.
