Veterinary Assistant
Sunray Animal Clinic in Brunswick, ME
WHAT YOU’LL DO 
  • Providescompassionate care to patients and clients
  • Keeps accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy, including in-depth knowledge of medical terminology and record keeping
  • Prepares and maintains the exam rooms and treatment areas
  • Performs physical assessments and records observations, including triaging and problem solving to achieve the best possible outcomes
  • Safe, low stress and compassionate handling and restraint
  • Prepares estimates for procedures and discusses financial commitments with clients
  • Pharmacy skills, including protocols for filling in-house
  • Monitors vitals by hand and with equipment
  • Sample collection and processing for in-house and reference labs
  • Builds initial rapport and long-term relationships with both pets and clients, successfully communicates plans and estimates to owners
  • Assists the Veterinarian in medical, surgical and dental procedures; prepares patients for surgery; administers anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids
  • Communicates within the team, proactively advocating for their patient’s needs
