SUNNYSIDE PRESBYTERIAN HOME is Hiring a LPN-Assisted Living Near Harrisonburg, VA

Description

 Sunnyside, a Life Plan Community in Harrisonburg, VA is currently seeking nurses to join our Assisted Living team. The primary role for this nurse is to administer medications while overseeing the overall health of the residents through observations, documentations, and assessments. Sunnyside's Assisted Living has the capacity for 76 residents and includes a separate Memory Care Neighborhood. 

COVID-19 considerations: Sunnyside does require all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This policy supports our commitment to making our workplace and our residents’ home as safe and welcoming as possible. Proof of COVID vaccine is required.

Shifts Available:

Full-Time, 72 hours bi-weekly, 2:45PM-11:15PM

Part-Time, 32 hours bi-weekly, 6:45AM-3:15PM

Part-Time, 32 hours bi-weekly, 2:45PM-11:15PM

Part-Time, 52 hours bi-weekly, 10:45PM-7:15AM

Requirements

  • Must be a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
  • Must be graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed through the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • CPR certified or ability to obtain.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its integrity.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and have good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in stressful environment and deal with medical emergency situations.
  • Ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions and take appropriate action based upon the information available.
  • Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach to engaging with all individuals.

Duties

  • Deliver and administer medication(s) per unit dose system; complete within regulation timeframe and without errors.
  • Document all medication administration accurately and timely.
  • Observe residents for changes in health, document observations and suggest proactive solutions to resident issues.
  • Transcribe, analyze, comprehend and implement doctors’ orders accurately; carry out doctor’s orders and notify appropriate personnel of changes.
  • Draw labs as ordered and report them to physician timely.
  • Assess complaints/issues with resident timely and notify physician as needed while being considerate of resident/family concerns.
  • Ensure responsible parties are notified timely of changes with resident care as needed.
  • Complete and/or supervise treatments ensuring standards nursing protocol is used.
  • Ensure Certified Nursing Assistants have proper information to ensure all services rendered are in agreement with the residents’ plan of care.
  • Report all significant resident issues to the Unit Manager timely; utilize 24 hour report to report all changes and orders.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges and any other changes to level of care; ensure proper screenings, documentation, communication is completed.
  • Maintain knowledge of safe operation of oxygen, IV’s, suction machines, catheters, etc. and ensure proper technique is used when working with medical equipment.
  • Ensure universal precautions are used to prevent the spread of infectious materials.
  • Be a team leader if an emergency arises, maintain composure during stressful events and give good instructions on what each team member needs to do.
  • Supervise the care provided by Certified Nursing Assistants on your unit; provide regular feedback regarding quality of resident care to include positive feedback and areas that need improvement.
  • Work as a team player with all departments; contribute to positive morale and spirit.
  • Coach and encourage others on a regular basis; respect the ideas and contributions of everyone.
  • Ensure change of shift information is effectively communicated with oncoming staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Make rounds on each shift for security purposes and to assess that residents are accounted for, any medical attention that is needed is provided and residents general needs have been cared for appropriately.
  • Prioritize responsibilities, determine emergencies and respond to residents’ needs timely and effectively.
  • Maintain clean, organized and orderly work areas; restock for upcoming shift if necessary.
  • Ensure medication carts are organized at all times.
