Job Title: RMA- Assisted Living & Memory Support 

Location: 3935 Sunnyside Drive Harrisonburg VA 22801

Hours: Evening Shift 3pm-11pm, and PRN opportunities available! 

Position Overview & General Responsibilities:

Sunnyside Retirement Community is actively seeking experienced and highly motivated Registered Medication Aides (R.M.As) to join the Assisted Living team. Contribute quality work to a historically exceptional senior living community. In Assisted Living, the selected candidate(s) will provide compassionate person-centered and person-directed care, and collaborate with staff to assist residents. R.M.As are a crucial component to our successful operation. The primary responsibilities of the Medication Aide include but are not limited to administering medications in safe manner and within regulation requirements, assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s); bathing, dressing, toileting and dining, documenting resident care, while always respecting and promoting resident’s rights and always maintaining a clean and safe home-like environment. R.M.As are essential team members who build genuine relationships with residents, making a difference in the lives of our residents, their loved-ones, and the community. It is critical that the selected candidate(s) effectively and respectfully communicate both verbally and written with anyone they may come into contact with, including but not limited to; residents, their family, guests, co-workers, team-leaders, and more.

• Shift Differentials: $2.00/hr for evening hours (3pm-11pm) and $2.50/hr for night-time hours (11pm-7am). $3.00/hr when working on Saturday and Sunday (in addition to evening/ or night shift differential).

Requirements

• Must have current Nursing Assistant license through Virginia Board of Nursing or DCA Certificate 
• Must have completed the medication training by a state-approved trainer.
• Ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions and take appropriate action based upon the information available.
• Must have current Medication Aide license through Virginia Board of Nursing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its’ integrity.
• Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and having good organizational skills.
• Ability to work in stressful environment and deal with medical emergency situations.
• Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach to engaging with all individuals. 

Physical and Environment Considerations: 

Normal lighting levels (except 11pm-7am shift where light is low in residents’ rooms), comfortable temperature ranges, good air quality and ventilation and low noise levels. Lifts, carries, pushes or otherwise manipulates residents, equipment and materials weighing up to 60lbs. Always use proper lifting and moving protocols and techniques. Exposure to body fluids and other infectious drainage. Minimal hazards if universal precautions and other infection control practices are employed.
