Sundance Institute is Hiring a Manager, Annual Giving Near Park, UT

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager, Annual Giving is charged with building a nationwide community of supporters for Sundance Institute’s work with independent artists. This includes managing annual donor communications, and raising revenue through the Institute’s Membership and Sundance Circle patron programs. This position oversees one seasonal employee.

Working closely under the direction of the Assistant Director, Annual Giving, the Manager builds the fundraising strategy and communication plans for the Membership and Sundance Circle patron programs.

This full-time position works extended hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends at key points. Preference will be given to candidates based in the greater Salt Lake City, UT area to work onsite in a hybrid capacity throughout the year. Occasional travel to other Institute offices and events will also be required.

Top priorities include but are not limited to…

  • Managing a portfolio of over 75 current and prospective individual donors.

  • Developing a strategic communication plan for the Sundance Circle and Membership programs; including creating timelines, drafting communications, and overseeing rollout to ensure alignment with renewal and acquisition strategies.

  • Overseeing one seasonal employee, the Festival Coordinator, Annual Giving, providing training and coaching on fundraising best practices, clear direction and priorities, and offering support and professional guidance.

  • Collaborating with marketing and communications on fundraising and membership campaigns, including in the lead up to and during the annual Sundance Film Festival.

  • Managing the membership and patron program email inboxes and phone lines, coordinating support from team members during high-volume periods to ensure timely responses to donor inquiries and key information is passed along as needed.

  • Surveying members, donors, ticket purchasers, and alumni to best engage and deepen relationships with these constituents and recommend ways to evolve acquisition, engagement strategy, and member benefits.

  • Soliciting renewals and new contributions from entry-level donors to increase engagement and move patrons up the donation pipeline.

  • Partnering with Marketing to develop opportunities to showcase Sundance's year-round mission and encourage philanthropic support.

  • Managing the fulfillment of Membership and Sundance Circle benefits at the annual Sundance Film Festival.

  • Reviewing all communications to donors regarding Festival benefits, ensuring the team facilitates onsite requisite benefits and access during the Festival and a successful donor experience.

  • Managing activations and benefit fulfillment for donors at the Sundance Film Festival and other public programs.

  • Collaborating with departments Institute-wide to engage alumni and audiences as supporters of Sundance.

  • Representing Sundance Institute and the Development team at Institute events.

  • Managing volunteers, including selecting and training them, assigning appropriate tasks, providing feedback, and ensuring they understand their responsibilities and are effective in their roles..

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • 3 years experience in nonprofit marketing or managing an annual giving or membership program.

  • Excellent customer support and problem solving skills

  • Experience writing for marketing purposes and with compiling and interpreting marketing analytics.

  • Experience with direct mail or marketing campaigns.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording, tracking, and issuing information.

  • Outstanding communication skills to work effectively with a wide variety of people.

  • Working knowledge databases along with proficiency in Google Products.

  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize effectively.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Understanding and interest in Sundance Institute's mission.

  • Working knowledge of Fundraising databases/Customer Relationship Management (CRM) experience preferred.

  • Build and execute successful donor engagement and solicitation strategies.

  • Draft compelling fundraising campaigns that motivate individuals to donate to the Institute.

  • Communicate clearly and prioritize work effectively to ensure time-sensitive responses and deadlines are met.

In addition to an annual salary of $54,000.00 to $65,000.00*, this position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package, highlights include:

*Final rate of pay is determined based on the applicant's geographic location, relevant experience and skills, and internal equity among similar positions within our organization.
