Responsible for actively facilitating the financial and functional decision-making processes necessary for the successful attainment of the organization’s operational and financial goals. The CFO is accountable for overall financial operations and is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day financial management of the organization. Design and direct the operations and activities of the financial department including accounting, budgeting, fiscal reporting, grants administration, payroll, auditing, and strategic sourcing. This position will demonstrate a commitment and provide leadership for Summitstone Health Partner’s values by delivering visionary and operational leadership while fostering trust, collaboration, and a diverse and inclusive environment.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining full integrity of all revenues, ensuring organization policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations, are followed.
- Overseeing capital assets projects, ensuring organizations goals are being met.
- Compiling fiscal estimates and prepares fiscal reports as requested.
- Ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures through observation, supervision, and testing.
- Developing procedures that ensure collections are complete and current.
- Providing advice and counsel to the Executive Leaders on financial and budget activities, including but not limited to: expenditure and revenue forecasting, budget development, employee compensation, investments, grants, and statewide legislation affecting finance, and aid in forecasting potential ramifications, implications, and unintended consequences of company-wide initiatives that could have adverse impacts
- Providing proactive, strategic support and problem-solving to leadership to ensure fiscally responsible practices that adhere to all applicable governing regulations, statutes, and policies.
- Overseeing and providing leadership to Department staff, including accounting, financial reporting, financial assistance, budget, systems support and project management, payroll, strategic sourcing, internal audit, and contracting.
- Responsibility for oversight of the development and analysis of the annual budget in accordance with regulations and policy; forecasting of revenues and expenditures, budget development timetables, budget request reviews, and preparation of fiscal overview documents.
- Making regular and ongoing comparisons between budget and actual performance, prepare reports detailing financial performance compared to forecasts, and prepare explanations of budget variances and deviations.
- Overseeing the development and administration of location and department budget allocation methods, employee staffing control functions, and employee compensation projections affecting the operating budget.
- Overseeing the preparation of financial reports and studies, including detailed and summary budget analyses and comparisons, development of charts, graphs, and materials for presentation to Board, Executive Leadership, and staff
- Monitoring the preparation and review of annual required financial reporting
- Engaging with department leadership to provide assistance and leadership in the financial and budgeting activities that impact individual departments.
- Ensuring all accounting and business office policies and required internal controls are in place to facilitate a clean audit with no material audit adjustments or deficiencies found. Ensures that all approval processes are in place.
- Working directly with SummitStone’s Chief Operations Officer to coordinate the operations of the Revenue Cycle team to ensure that accounts receivable are collected in a timely manner. Strives to achieve goals for cash collections and AR days and to reduce bad debt and denials. Routinely reviews revenue cycle metrics with the Chief Operations Officer, to proactively identify and address issues affecting overall performance.
- Maintaining a thorough working knowledge of federal, state and managed care reimbursement methodologies to ensure that facility is paid accurately, and revenue deductions are recorded accurately. Facilitating preparation of any required cost reports.
- Preparing annual operating budget and participates in the annual strategic planning process which serves as a basis for the budget. Provides ongoing analysis of variances from budget and assists the CEO in implementing changes needed to achieve budget goals.
- Preparing annual capital budgets and Capital Equipment Requests. Ensuring assets and related depreciation is recorded accurately and in compliance with company policies.
- Providing financial expertise in planning new services including preparation of pro-formas.
- Participating with managed care contracting and other business development activities to ensure net revenue maximization.

Experiences and Background We Look For
- Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. 7 years of experience in budget creation, budget projections, budget research, monitoring, and management analysis of administrative practices and operating procedures in a proprietary healthcare system.
- Preferred: Bilingual/Bicultural; Master's degree; Previous experience in a behavioral healthcare; CPA or CMA.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be evaluated and considered.
Wage Ranges
Typical hiring range for a 40-hr. work week is $150,000 - $180,000 per year, based on relevant qualifications and experience.
