WHO WE AREWith 35 years of experience, Summit Point Motorsports Park and Training Facility provides Commercial Motorsports events along with customized Security and Emergency Medical training solutions on our 786-acre facility located in Summit Point, WV. We are a recognized leader in the Motorsports and Security Training Solutions Markets for both commercial and government clients. We take pride in providing tailored solutions for clients in an ever-evolving world.WHAT YOU'LL DO The Summit Point Events Director will serve as a Sumit Point Ambassador for all events, promotions and hospitality services. The Director will be responsible for meeting with new clients and be expected to ask questions and learn about all inquiries for new events. They will work with the client’s ideas as well as provide suggestions and ideas to clients about Summit Point offers. They will work with the client to create a budget for the event and offer recommendations for outside vendors if it is not something we offer at the facility.This position will remain in contact with the in-house Summit Point team or outside vendors and coordinate activities to ensure the success of the event. During events the Director will be on-site to act as the single point of contact for any client requests and mitigate issues that may arise during an event.The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
  • Promote Summit Point Motorsports and Training Facility services to companies, organizations, and individuals.
  • Ensure that scheduled events and quality of services are successful.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Working with the Summit Point Director of Business Development, Motorsports, and Training Directors along with marketing team in gathering information about the potential client’s objectives, budget, and preferences for events.
  • Develop new events suited for the growth of Motorsports and Tourism on the facility.
  • Providing oversight on concessions and hospitality staff including concession menus, décor, entertainment, and hospitality service standards.
  • Creating schedules of all activities for staff to follow during events.
  • Communicating with all vendors and suppliers before, during and after the event in collaboration with the Summit Point Procurement Department.
  • Managing the budget to ensure the event doesn’t cost more than originally planned.
  • Mitigate problems that arise to ensure the event is successful.
  • Overseeing concession servers, kitchen staff, gate crews and other workers who will set up for, work during and clean up after the event.
  • Ensuring that events comply with insurance, health, and safety standards.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:Required:
  • Minimum of two years of prior experience in event management or a related field.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple events with prior customer recommendations.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills for dealing with clients, vendors, and staff.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to coordinate the actions of multiple parties.
  • Creative thinking skills to design events that fit the visions of the clients into these events.
  • Multitasking ability is necessary to move from one task to another at a fast pace.
  • Computer skills for using events management software, word processors, spreadsheets, and e-mail.
  • Basic accounting skills to track spending and stick to a budget.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Knowledge of risk management to identify potential legal liabilities and take steps to mitigate them.
  • Good networking skills to build relationships with vendors and suppliers and attract new customers.
Preferred:
  • Marketing and sales experience a plus.
  • Certified Meetings Professional (CMP) from the Convention Industry Council (CIC).
  • Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) from the International Live Events Association (ILEA).
  • Certification in Meeting Management (CMM) from Meeting Professionals International (MPI).
  • Certified Event Planning Specialist (CESP) from the National Career Certification Board (NCCB).
