About the team:

Summit Pacific Medical Center is seeking an experienced Family Medicine physician to join its integrated primary care department. The position is outpatient based and involves the provision of general medical care to primary care patients, developing panel of community patients, and general clinic staff leadership that is part of a normal physician practice. The ideal candidate would have more than 3 years of post-residency clinical practice as well as some leadership experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Graduate of a medical school, accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, with a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).
  2. Completion of residency accredited by the ACGME- Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or AOA-American Osteopathic Association.
  3. Demonstrate clinical competence in the provision of patient care, pain management, and medication administration.
  4. Ability to travel locally and regionally, as assigned.
  5. Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
  6. Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registration:

  1. Unrestricted license to practice within Washington State.
  2. Current DEA certificate without restriction.
  3. PALS or NRP, ACLS may be required.
  4. Enroll and maintain eligibility as a physician in the Federal Medicare program and the Washington State Medicaid program.
  5. Board certification in specialty.

Job Specific Duties:

  1. Assess patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
  2. Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies interpret test results, and develop related treatment plans based on results.
  3. Perform therapeutic procedures, manage lacerations, wounds, infections, suspicious lesions, or other related ambulatory injuries.
  4. Instruct and counsel patients regarding their therapeutic regimens, give anticipatory guidance of normal growth and development, discuss family planning, provide counseling on emotional problems of daily living, and promote wellness and prevention.
  5. Arrange referrals, consultations, and therapeutic services, and confer with other physicians and specialists regarding diagnosis and treatment plans, including situations where other physicians may need information emergently.
  6. Maintain a safety conscious, clean working environment by complying with relevant procedures, rules and regulations. Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  7. In accordance with clinic policy, participate in quality improvement and measurement efforts of patient care in coordination with other facilities, professional associations and SPMC.
  8. Engage in medical education activities as needed in support of the SPMC’s mission, which may include quality assurance, utilization review, and risk management programs.
  9. Assist in developing health care team staff by providing leadership while modeling appropriate professional conduct.
  10. Adhere to the Summit Pacific Provider Handbook policies and practice norms.
  11. Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call rotation (phone call plus Saturday clinic).

Example: after hours on call, one weekday each month; weekend on call, one per quarter.

  1. Provide oversight and consultative services for nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nursing staff in accordance with SPMC policies and State law. Physicians may also be called upon to provide direct supervision of medical students and allied health professionals who are pursuing educational experiences at SPMC.
  2. Provide and promote health and wellness initiatives and maintenance for SPMC patients Exercise discretion regarding all matters related to the official business of SPMC.
  3. Under the direction of SPMC, participate in the development and review of SPMC policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure quality assurance objectives.
  4. Adhere to all SPMC policies and procedures.
  5. Adhere and work within the scope of the license, standards of care, and SPMC protocols
  6. Provide other services and duties as directed by the Primary Care Medical Director and/or Chief Medical Officer.

Pay range is $250,445.00 to 263,361.00 depending on experience.
