Summit Community Care Group is Hiring a Grant Accountant Near Frisco, CO

Position Summary:

The Summit Community Care Clinic (Care Clinic) is seeking a Grants Accountant who will perform work activities in a fast-paced, complex, detailed, and multifaceted environment. The Grant Accountant will be expected to provide monthly reports of expenditures, as well as work closely with staff to manage and track expenses, monitor accounts for the accuracy of charges, identify and manage deadlines, and prepare journal entries when needed. The responsibilities for this position include grant pre-award and post-award activities as described in detail below.

The Grant Accountant must demonstrate regard for the rights of all patients, staff, and volunteers.

Essential Functions:


Accounting Support

  • Primary liaison to program staff on grants. Act as the primary liaison to HR for all grant-funded positions. Liaise between the Grants and Accounting departments supporting the implementation, tracking, and closing functions of the grant process.
  • Support the Director of Finance and Grant Manager in strategic expense planning and audit compliance for all grants.
  • Provide financial projections, data, and budgetary reports to the Director of Finance/CFO and Program Staff to support proper financial oversight. Work with staff on issues related to compliance and reporting.
  • Manage appropriate time allocation of staff to grants via the payroll system. Responsible for personnel redistributions and monitoring cost shares.
  • Manage grants according to federal regulations (e.g. Uniform Guidance, A-133, etc.), funder, and institutional guidelines. Monitor budgets to assure compliance with funder terms and conditions as well as SCCC policies and assist with reviewing monthly financial statements.
  • Work closely with clinical staff, management team, accounting, HR/Payroll, and other relevant departments to resolve any identified problems.
  • Prepare, review, & submit final invoices for billable grants 30-45 days after month- and year-end.
  • Prepare and send monthly and quarterly invoices for Capitated, FIRC, and other scheduled and one-off billings as needed.
  • Responsible for grant-specific post-award activities related to purchases, consultants, and payment of invoices.
  • Proactively identify grants that need close-out procedures, and prepare all necessary paperwork, ensuring all personnel have been removed and all expenditures are appropriate.
  • Interact with administration to ensure compliance with government and funding agency policies and provide guidance on appropriate purchases and allocable charges.
  • Responsible for understanding and advising on HR policies, procedures, and processes for all grant-funded positions.
  • Assist with annual reconciliations, closings, financial statement audits, and other Federal, State, and funder audits as required.


Grant & Development

  • Work closely with the Grants team to identify all potential costs associated with a proposal. Present and discuss recommendations for adjustments appropriate to the proposal and the funder guidelines.
  • Provide a monthly review of expenditures for the SCCC and for individual program managers to manage and track expenses, monitor accounts for the accuracy of charges, identify deadlines, and prepare journal entries when needed.
  • Proactively identify problem accounts and meet with program staff as needed to assist in projecting cost overruns and/or under expenditures to ensure the award is spent in a timely manner without deficit. Provide recommendations for possible solutions.
  • Support in the preparation, drafting, and assembly of new grant applications and progress reports in accordance with the funder’s guidelines.
  • Prepare periodic FFR reports for HRSA grants via the PMS system.


Additional Requirements:

  • Grants are a vital part of Care Clinic revenues and directly or indirectly support all positions. This role may have responsibilities that are closely associated with grant deliverables. Grants and grant responsibilities may change over time.
  • Complete all required training as designated by HR and the position supervisor.
  • Adhere to all policies within the organization and those outlined within the SCCC Employee Handbook.
  • Comply with all Care Clinic Vaccine mandates.
  • Willingness to travel and work at other Care Clinic locations as determined by the supervisor.
  • Comply with all applicable Credentialing and Privileging requirements timely.
  • Embrace the Care Clinic's Mission and Vision and agree to work within the Care Clinic's Guiding Principles and the principles set by the position supervisor.
  • Must participate in quality assurance/ improvement activities when applicable.

Education/Experience:


Must Haves to be successful:

  • An associate degree is required, or equivalent, with an Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping focus.
  • 1-2 years of professional-level experience working with grant proposals and budgets.
  • Experience with contract and grant management procedures and state/federal agency regulations (e.g. Uniform Guidance, A-133, etc.).
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of GAAP principles/year-end accrual accounting, fiscal accounting systems, and knowledge of cost accounting.
  • Strong computer skills: Strong fundamental knowledge of Excel and knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based, deadline-driven, and continuous improvement environment.
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment; demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Experience using Financial Edge, Timekeeping/Payroll systems, or comparable applications is desirable.


Nice to Haves
:

  • Previous experience working with an FQHC is preferred.
  • The ability to speak the Spanish language fluently (bilingual) is preferred.


Work Environment:

The work environment is in the administrative office of a healthcare clinic. The work can be fast-paced and involves communication with healthcare professionals. This role is clerical. It requires the ability to work autonomously and stay on task. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Offsite work is required, including community events and fundraisers. Work schedules are flexible to accommodate these activities.
