The Lake DA Lead is responsible for day-to-day operations at Lake County Dental as it pertains to the back of the house. This position is responsible for high quality patient care by assisting the doctor at the top of their Tier Training. The Lake DA Lead is also responsible for ordering, inventory, lab cases and maintenance for Lake County Dental including hygiene supplies and hygiene room maintenance in accordance with SCCC and OSHA’s best practices. Other duties include helping the front desk to keep the schedule full and a mentor to less experienced DAs scheduled to work at Lake County Dental. Please ask about our $2000.00 sign-on bonus.

Essential Functions:

  • Can perform all duties and responsibilities required of the Dental Assistant position.
  • Be available to work in all Summit Community Care Clinic locations based on Clinic and trainee needs as determined by their supervisor.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities and professionalism in the clinic setting by recognizing and addressing problems in a calm and confident manner while striving to facilitate good communication throughout the clinic and externally during recruiting events.
  • Provide quality, cost effective, and compassionate dental care and treatment to all patients based on their individual needs, always being mindful of the patient’s rights.
  • Assist the dentists and hygienists with procedures, room set-up, x-rays, language interpretation, and ensuring an organized and infection free environment.
  • Receive patient for treatment, perform mouth mirror inspection, identify oral anatomy, and chart existing restoration.
  • Perform coronal polishing procedures, apply topical fluoride, place pit and fissure sealants and give patients preventive education and oral hygiene instructions.
  • Take, record, and monitor vital signs.
  • Using the concept of four handed dentistry will assist the dentist in restorative and surgical procedures while maintaining all fields of operation including use of retraction, suction, irrigation, drying, as well as placing or removing cotton rolls, and other procedures as needed.
  • Mixes dental materials, places, and removes retraction cord and matrix bands.
  • Removes sutures, places, and removes dental rubber dam, and removes permanent cement from supra gingival surfaces.
  • Places dental sealants and simple dental fillings.
  • Take diagnostic radiographic images for the dentist or hygienist.
  • Due to the high level of skill achieved as an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA) you are allowed to work “independently” as an extension of the dentist.
    • Once an EDDA has mastered the 1st and 2nd levels of training can fill preps, perform impressions for crowns, partials, dentures, and bridges.
    • Can create an esthetic and functional temporary crown and bridge as well as denture reline, adjustments of crowns, dentures, and partials. As well as other duties assigned by Dentists and Dental leadership.
  • Have clear conversations with patients about the dental services and benefits offered to the patient.
  • As a DATP trainer and recruiter you will provide a safe and confidential environment for patients, families, and personnel.
  • Actively participates in team meetings, staff meetings, trainings, and any other special projects.
  • Maintains proper and accurate records for dental patients.
  • Organizes and maintains the Operatories.
  • Responsible for the timely and cost-effective ordering of supplies to maintain adequate inventory of Dental supplies, and equipment.
  • Recognizes, understands, and responds to dental and medical emergencies.
  • Weekly Sterilization testing.
  • Report needed repairs of equipment to the Dental Assistant Supervisor.
  • Performs outreach and screening when schedule permits.
  • Package, send, receive, and confirm lab work.

Additional Requirements:

  • Works closely with the Chief Dental Officer and the Dental Clinic Supervisor to plan and implement process improvement activities.
  • Grants are a vital part of Care Clinic revenues and directly or indirectly support all positions. This role may have responsibilities that are closely associated with grant deliverables. Grants and grant responsibilities may change over time.
  • Complete all required trainings as designated by HR and the position supervisor.
  • Adhere to all policies within organization and those outlined within the SCCC Employee Handbook.
  • Comply with all SCCC Vaccine Mandates.
  • Willingness to travel and work at other SCCC locations as determined by the supervisor.
  • Comply with all applicable Credentialing and Privileging requirements timely.
  • Embrace the SCCC Mission and Vision and agree to work within the SCCC Guiding Principles and the principles set by the position supervisor.
  • Must participate in quality assurance/ improvement activities as well as community-based health care activities when applicable.
