Summit Body and Equipment is Hiring a Material Handler/Forklift Operator Near Ridgefield, WA

NEW MANUFACTURING FACILITY COMING SOON

This position has a 90-120 day training in our Portland, OR plant before becoming full-time in our brand new facility located on NE Delfel Rd in Ridgefield, WA.

Position Summary

Summit Body has served the commercial truck and transportation industry in the Pacific Northwest for over 35 years building, upfitting, and repairing dry vans, flatbeds and refrigerated vans.

Our Material Handler and Forklift Specialist manages incoming and outgoing shipments and materials. Working closely with the Production Manager and the Purchasing Manager, the Material Handler and Forklift Specialist assists with the handling of material in time with the production departments schedule, supports the purchasing department in receiving materials, and is responsible for yard maintenance. This is a critical role to support Summit’s rapid growth. The ideal candidate has an eye for detail, safety, and works well independently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lot management which includes loading and unloading material deliveries, along with organizing materials throughout the facility.
  • Checking-in new truck chassis, checking-out completed truck chassis, driving trucks from shop bays to designated parking areas.
  • Moving completed bodies to designated areas on the lot, or onto trucks for customer delivery.
  • Receiving product from a variety of sources from common carrier deliveries and hand-trucks to flatbed trailers and vans.
  • Inspect deliveries of materials and chassis to ensure all items are free of damage, accurate and meet Summit’s quality standards.
  • Shipping product via common carrier, medium-duty trucks and commercial flatbed trailers.
  • Stocking product to the proper inventory areas and notifying management immediately of shortages and overages.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of inventory areas at all times.
  • Perform cycle counts of inventory upon request or as scheduled.
  • Assist the Purchasing & Production Departments with tasks as requested.
  • Maintain a safe work environment at all times and report any unsafe conditions to management immediately.
  • Keeping the grounds free from trash and debris.

Qualifications

  • High-school diploma, GED and/or relevant experience.
  • Expert forklift driving skills required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with shifting priorities
  • Lift, carry, push and pull 75lbs. consistently
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test and annual random retesting.
  • Must have your own transportation and valid driver’s license.

Work Environment

The factory noise level may require ear protection. The work area has forklift traffic and will occasionally require exposure to wet conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Intermittently throughout the day you will be required to go outside in various weather conditions. On occasion there may be a need to lift, carry, push, and pull 75 lbs. Stooping, bending, twisting, climbing ladders and standing for periods of time may occasionally be required.

Work Hours

The Material Handler and Forklift Specialist’s routine work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The workweek may expand up to 50 hours per week and/or Saturday overtime to meet customer demand.

Pay starting at $23/hour DOE
