Description Under the direction of the Aquatics Director or designee, the Pool Attendant is responsible for providing a safe environment for all participants in and around the pool. This includes supervision, control and safety of participants during use of the slide, pool, and/or aquatic programming. The Pool Attendant will respond to member and guest questions, facilitate general activities, administer swim test, and engage parents in the supervision of their children. They may respond to emergencies and administer CPR/AED, First Aid, and/or Oxygen effectively according to certifications. The Pool Attendant must exhibit behaviors and attitudes that are consistent with the YMCA Mission and policies of the Association. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide supervision of pool deck area, entrances, high traffic, and high risk areas
Follow and enforce pool rules and policies promptly
If applicable, enforce slide rules, regulations, and completes a routine check of the slide area regularly throughout shift
Assist in maintaining cleanliness of pool deck and surrounding areas as well as chemical checks and record keeping on appropriate forms
Keep the slide and deck clear of equipment and store equipment in its proper place
Follow opening and closing procedures
Facilitate general activities as assigned
Administer swim test and proper record keeping
May be asked to assist a certified swim instructor with a swim lesson class
Engage parents in the supervision of their children
Understand and be able to carry out center emergency procedures and document accidents on the proper forms. Report any concerns to the Aquatics Director or designee immediately
Engage in positive public relations with participants, members and guest ensuring a positive experience
Adhere to the Association operating policies and procedures by operating the programs within the guidelines set forth
Follow YMCA policies and procedures regarding the safety, health and welfare of members, program participants, guests and staff; responds to emergency situations in accordance to facility policies and certification requirements
Maintain accurate record of hours worked and be responsible for finding substitutes for absences
Attend and actively participate in all trainings, staff meetings/in-services and guard drills as assigned
