Early Childhood Teacher

Stuyvesant Heights Montessori is a well-established Montessori inspired preschool located in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York. Our approach to early childhood education encourages creativity, respect for self and others, self-discipline, academic success, independence, and enthusiasm for learning. We are seeking highly motivated early childhood teachers to join our team. Our program traditionally provides English with Spanish immersion instruction for children aged 2-5 years old. We are currently looking to fill teaching positions for Early childhood - PreKindergarten classes. Montessori credentials are not required.

Teacher Responsibilities:

• Lead a classroom in French, in a fun and engaging way, using a variety of hands-on approaches to learning.
• Guide children with progressive instruction that supports the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth of young children.
• Preparation of classroom and materials following safety guidelines.
• Familiarity with curriculum development and lesson planning.
• Create a positive learning environment that includes individualized plans and goals for students.
• Possess strong observation skills and keep daily records of individual students.
• Ability to document, organize and reflect teaching goals and progress in the lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations for each class and student.
• Organize activities and lunch/recess hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times.
• Ability to engage children in developmentally appropriate ways (also including addressing children at eye-level, sitting with children on the floor, engaging children in play and conversation).
• Provide strong verbal and written communication skills with children, families, and staff.
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.
• Upload daily snapshots of each student's day to be sent home electronically.

Position Qualification:

Lead Teacher

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or currently studying Early Childhood Education at the Graduate level (NYS study plan eligible)

Assistant Teacher

• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or completed valid CDA (NYS study plan eligible)

All Applicants:

• At least two-years experience in a licensed Preschool.
• Experience working in an early childhood setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Native French speaker
• Solid organizational and teamwork skills.
• Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and program.
• Respectful to all persons from diverse, cultural, and economic backgrounds, while maintaining an inclusive environment at Stuyvesant Heights Montessori.
• Familiar with the Arts or Fine Arts
• Ability to meet physical requirements of position which include lifting children, year-round daily physical activities.
• College student/graduate preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $47,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
