Stumpy’s Hatchet House is looking to hire a Front Desk Assistant/Events Host.
Stumpy’s Hatchet House offers an alternative form of recreation. Escape the mundane, power down from the world, and step into the rustic scene of hatchet throwing. Primitive and organic, this sport suits those who love adventure and those who seek release. Get back to the basics with hatchet throwing.
Job Brief:
The Front Desk Assistant is responsible for front desk operations, including greeting and welcoming guests, sales at the register, and responding to phone calls, guest inquiries, and reservations. They are also cross-trained in axe coaching, which is hosting the events. Axe coaching consists of demonstrating to customers how to throw (training will be provided) and making sure guests receive the best experience possible.
Responsibilities:
- Greet guests in a friendly and welcoming manner.
- Check guests in - assessing age, sobriety & footwear.
- Find out about any type of occasion the group may be celebrating.
- Offer to ice any beverages for customers (keeping an eye out for hard alcohol or excessive amount of beer or wine).
- Communicate with throwing coaches to ensure that they’re prepared to get the group started.
- Maintain tidiness in the lobby area & front bathroom.
- Keep merchandise displayed nicely, notifying management about any stock that needs to be replenished.
- Maintain a stock of drinks for sale in the refrigerator.
- Answering the phone & taking reservations, following the protocol on the “reservation cheat sheet”.
- Cross-training for the throwing coach position will be provided and required.

- Strong multitasking & problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well with diverse teams.
