JOB OPENING: July 1, 2024 for the upcoming 2024-2025 School Year

POSITION:  Administrator for Quality Programs

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: $85,000-$95,000 DOE annual salary plus performance pay; Full Time - 12 Months/225 work days (Work Calendar A)

(Compensation will be provided for travel, food, and lodging).

JOB SUMMARY: The role of the Administrator for Quality Programs at Student Choice High School serves as a champion for students needing wrap-around services and an alternative pathway to their high school diploma. This is a dynamic individual who understands alternative education and who strongly advocates for underprivileged and under-served youth and young adults. Utilizing the National Alternative Education Association’s Exemplary Practices as the standard for excellence, the Administrator for Quality Programs promotes and enhances the overall mission, vision, and culture of the organization; engages in professional development and program evaluation with all stakeholders to foster continuous improvement; adheres to all policies and procedures benefiting the success of the organization and all stakeholders; supervises staff and performs tasks in the development and continuous implementation of a high school program, which promotes the educational well-being of each student in the school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve on the District’s Operations Team to ensure interdepartmental collaboration and district-wide advisory of all operational programs and services.
  • Oversee and implement with quality the following programs, including the Personal Plan of the Student Success Plan, Career and Technical Education (CTE), Educational Career Action Plan (ECAP), Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Mentoring, and McKinney-Vento.
  • Provide community networking and maintain current and appropriate resources of quality programs for education stakeholders.
  • Collect and analyze data to guide program direction and continued improvement.
  • Measure results of programs and share results as appropriate.
  • Assists district leadership in developing a comprehensive course catalog ensuring CTE and CCRI alignment to Arizona Revised Statutes, Arizona Administrative Code, and the Local Education Agency (LEA) requirements.
  • Assists district leadership with oversight and compliance to systems related to state accountability measures and district operations.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive SSP/Guidance/ECAP program for effective delivery based on The NAEA Alternative Education Exemplary Practices and the ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Advisory Programs.
  • Accurately and appropriately uses academic assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual and group advisory services.
  • Consult and collaborate effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified academic concerns and needs.
  • Provide college entrance/enrollment navigation and training to SCHS Mentors.
  • Coordinate meetings for students with local community colleges and/or vocational schools and assist with enrollment to the institutions.
  • Conduct program outreach, and provide post-secondary pathway opportunities and professional development to stakeholders.
  • Provide assistance with career acquisition skills to assist students with developing resume writing skills and job-interviewing techniques.
  • Partner with local high schools and agencies for student enrollment referrals and develop pathways for students seeking credit recovery.
  • Oversee mentoring program to ensure equitable access to social and emotional learning as well as required engagement outlined in the SSP.
  • Supervise and coordinate with school social worker to implement an effective referral and follow-up process for social, emotional, and financial hardship concerns affecting students.
  • Encourage students and families to seek additional assistance if they have personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational or vocational situations.
  • Oversee identification and support of students in the care of the Department of Child Services (DCS), experiencing homelessness or qualification for McKinney-Vento.
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills related to quality programs.
  • Ensure communication, oversight, and compliance with district systems for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for populations within Special Education.
  • Coordinate CCRI alignment with graduation requirements.
  • Facilitate district graduation ceremonies. 
  • Support the philosophy, core values, mission, and vision of Student Choice.
  • Work as part of a collaborative District/Campus team and project collegiality and ability to inspire trust.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable SCHS District and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public, and others having business with the school district.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
  • Knowledge of high school Alternative Education.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Minimum:

  • Master’s Degree with 3 years of experience in educational leadership or related field.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and families.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to flex hours as needed.

Desired:

  • Seven or more years of successful administrative experience leading, supervising, and managing an organization or department.
  • Experience or certification in School Guidance Counseling or CTE 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Arizona Teaching Certificate in related field.
  • Arizona Administration and Supervision Certificate or equivalent.
