STS Technical Services is Hiring a Maintenance Technicians Near Prairie, WI

STS Technical Services is hiring Maintenance Technicians in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

Job Description:

Our client is a leading supplier of construction materials to commercial contractors. They are eagerly seeking an experienced maintenance technician to repair and maintain equipment during second shift. The ability to work independently, executing and following up on needed mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs, is highly desired. This person will also perform preventative maintenance on machines used to manufacture various components for metal storage buildings in addition to new installations in an industrial setting.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Complete daily work logs as well as use a maintenance software to close out work requests and PM's.
  • Respond to radio calls regarding facilities issues or machine breakdowns.
  • Be able to safely operate a forklift.
  • Work with electricity, which includes high voltage (up to 480 volts), running new lines, troubleshooting machine issues, changing fuses, etc.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues independently. This may include changing a gear box, sprocket and chain, dies and punches, etc. These may have to be lifted independently from odd angles.
  • Troubleshoot and replace hydraulic and pneumatic components such as cylinders, accumulators, valves, etc.
  • Complete facility assignments including, but not limited to: plunging toilets, mopping, shoveling snow, cleaning gutters, cleaning drains, salting ice, etc.
  • Be able to work comfortably and safely at heights.
  • Must be able to use Multimeter in order to safely work on electrical projects.
  • Familiar with lock-out-tag-out with a strong understanding of safe practices.
Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in related field, including high school diploma or work equivalent.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical experience along with pneumatic and hydraulic hands on experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in utilizing math skills daily.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, self-starter, team environment and able to handle deadline pressure.
  • Must provide own basic hand tools.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for insurance purposes.
Education / Experience:
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience operating a caliper
  • PLC and troubleshooting abilities necessary. Requires Welding accreditation Certificate

While performing the duties of this job during a regular eight (8) hour shift, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; twist, bend, climb or balance; and stoop, squatting, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

In an 8 hour shift you should expect to walk briskly as much as 2-5 miles do to the size of our campus and only having one shop area. You should also expect to have to crawl under equipment, climb on top of equipment, balance on equipment, squeeze into spaces as small as 3? x 4? x 5? as an example of one of the smaller areas. Frequently lift over 75 pounds in very awkward positions due to equipment configuration and no possible means to use hoists, levers, etc. Be stable on and be able to climb up and down ladders many times in a shift. Have very good dexterity in hand fingers and arms, you must be able to get your arms and hands in very tight places, while manipulating nuts bolts, etc. Good flexibility is needed in wrists, fingers, elbows, shoulders, knees, hips, torso, neck, etc. This at times can be a very physically challenging job. Very good upper body and leg strength is preferred and helpful in preventing injury.

  • Must be able to regularly climb on equipment, crawl under equipment, and reach into equipment.
  • Must be able to walk long distances (multiple miles) every day and spend hours at a time standing.
  • Required to be able to work in hot environments, for instance in the summer, the surrounding area of equipment can reach high temperatures.
Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
