Scraps & Skeins is a creative reuse shop with a vision of improving the lives of our neighbors with varying abilities, including those with mental health challenges through the reuse and resale of materials that support Strawberry Fields’ programs.
2024 Green Business Partner and 2024 Emerald Award Winner
As recognized by the Centre County Recycling Authority for saving 45 tons of materials from the landfill
Job Summary:
- Opportunity for individuals with mental health challenges
- Shop hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am-2pm plus third Saturday of the month 9am-2pm
- Part-time, working a flexible schedule of 3-10 hours per week
- Starting pay rate is $8.50 per hour
- All training is provided at the Scraps & Skeins store
The successful candidate will
- Learn to run register, receive donations, prep fabric and stock shelves
- Be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Be flexible regarding work schedule
- Have a positive attitude
- Enjoy working with people
- Be eager to learn
Qualifications:
- Opportunity for individuals with mental health challenges
- Must have access to own transportation (i.e. walking, biking, bus, or vehicle)
- Criminal background check required
- Professional and Personal references required
