Job Purpose
To provide construction inspection services to Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) District 6
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor Construction Contractor progress on various SHA projects.
- Complete Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs) to document construction progress.
- Confirm contractor quantities for installed work.
- Communicate individual project progress to SHA personnel
- Assist with approval processes necessary for construction contractor payments.
- Coordinate activities between the Construction contractor and SHA.
- Work within the SHA eConstruction system.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of construction inspection related experience
- Knowledge of State if Maryland regulations
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients and co-workers
- Valid Driver's License
Desired Qualifications
- General experience with environmental issues
- Experience with roadway and drainage construction projects
- Experience with permitting compliance
- Experience with project documentation and MSHA systems
- A proven record of working with construction contractors and government agencies
- Certifications: Maintenance of Traffic, Green Card, Yellow Card, MARTCP
- Scheduling and cost estimating experience

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
- Must be able to traverse various types of terrain for extended periods of time
- Physical ability to perform outdoor field work and in unpleasant field conditions
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections
