Purchasing Production Manager

The Purchasing Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the procurement and production processes within a company. The job description for this role may include the following responsibilities and qualifications:


Core Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic procurement and production plans to meet the organization's objectives and collaborate with other departments to understand their purchasing and production needs.
  • Supplier Management: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish relationships and monitor supplier performance and address any issues to ensure a reliable supply chain.
  • Cost Management: Analyze costs, negotiate pricing, implement cost-saving initiatives and optimize production processes to maximize efficiency and minimize expenses.
  • Inventory Control: Manage and control inventory levels to meet production demands and implement inventory management systems to track and organize stock.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that purchased materials meet required standards and implement quality assurance measures in the production process.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely and cost-effective production and communicate with various stakeholders to align purchasing and production activities.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in procurement and production activities and stay updated on relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • Budgeting: Develop and manage budgets for purchasing and production activities and track expenses and report on variances.
  • A High School Diploma is required; a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in procurement and production management is required
  • Experience in a leadership role, overseeing teams and managing projects is required.
  • Proficiency in using procurement and inventory management software; NetSuite experience is highly desired.
  • Strong analytical skills for cost analysis and process optimization.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges in the procurement and production processes.
