Storj is looking for a Director of People Ops who will partner closely with all teams across our growing organization. In this role you will further shape our world class human resources organization, overseeing HR, talent strategy, employee engagement, professional development, and recruiting and hiring. You would be joining a small but mighty team and help scale our organization through rapid growth. You will help architect our company-wide HR programs, develop and promote our employer brand, and collaborate cross-functionally to identify and secure top talent.

The ideal candidate is a team leader and a builder -- someone who will celebrate the people operations department we have created and build upon that with the goal of creating an HR Center of Excellence. You will own and heavily influence People Operations programs and processes including career mapping, performance management programs, bonus & incentive planning, and employee onboarding/offboarding.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a scalable HR strategy across the Company as a strategic partner.
  • Enhance and administer our current benefits program and formalize into a total rewards program.
  • In partnership with management, lead strategic thinking and planning related to organizational development and structure.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain performance management and talent review processes.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Storj culture inside and out so that you are able to provide strategic HR partnership to the leaders and the teams you support.
  • Own the evaluation and maintenance of HR systems related but not limited to performance management, employee engagement, onboarding/offboarding, compensation, and benefits & perks.
  • Design and implement strategies, including ongoing education and training programs, to build the capacity of staff to work effectively, respectfully and equitably across race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, gender orientation and expression and other social identities and diversity segments.
  • Lead and execute our immigration strategy and process ensuring Storj employees and candidates working under a visa feel safe and supported through the visa application and renewal processes.
  • Oversee People Operations including recruiting.
  • Partner with other HR adjacent functions (e.g., Finance, Legal, etc.) to ensure our people operations programs, processes, and systems align with our goals and manage risk appropriately.
  • Act with the employee experience top of mind, continuously seeking feedback, inefficiencies, and maintaining relationships based on our core values.
  • Partner with Storj Executive Team and managers to resolve employee relations issues; provide coaching and counseling to management and staff; collaborate with legal counsel on issues as appropriate.
  • Formalize and oversee the summer internship program with an emphasis on broadening the diversity of the students participating.
  • Manage the HR Business Partner.

Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience in HR ideally in the tech industry, experience working for a start-up preferred
  • 2 years in an HR Leadership role, managing a team of direct reports
  • Experience owning HR Operations in a high-growth, fast paced startup environment
  • Global employment law compliance knowledge
  • Experience partnering with international, distributed teams
  • Well versed in various leave policies, such as STD/LTD, FMLA, Parental, and vacation
  • Analytical expertise; proficient with data-driven analysis as it relates to HR/People
  • Deep understanding of the complex tax, legal, compensation, and immigration issues related to benefits
  • Exemplary communication ability, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively manage and build consensus 
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
