Transportation Coordinator - Stord Transportation

Shift: Monday – Friday 1st Shift

The Transportation Coordinator plays a key role in driving the growth, success and innovation of Stord. As the primary local interface with Stord’s Parcel, LTL, and Truckload carriers, the Transportation Coordinator facilitates the efficient and cost-effective pickup of Stord shipments, communicating with carriers and using Stord and carrier systems to meet on-time departure and arrival of all shipments. A successful candidate will have an eye for detail and a strong sense of ownership.

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as the on-site liaison between Stord Transportation and Warehouse Operations
  • Use multiple systems to plan customer orders, validate order readiness and verify ship methods and communicate to customers as necessary
  • Create and/or execute routing plans for LTL, administering Stord’s TMS to schedule shipping and to provide Stord, Carriers, and Customers alike a view into shipping plans and status
  • Utilize online tools to communicate shipping forecasts to Parcel carriers, and follow through with local contacts for the timely pickup of all Parcel freight
  • Coordinate with shipping clerks and loaders to control paperwork like Bills of Lading, and to help instruct drivers to appropriate docks
  • Schedule FTL pickup appointments and proactively acquire ETAs with customers and carriers to avoid dock congestion
  • Coordinate the Inbound delivery appointment schedule, aligning with Warehouse Operations to prioritize and expedite incoming deliveries, and synchronize supply to labor availability.
  • Ensure LTL orders are configured to minimize cost, including consideration of alternative shipping methods with Parcel or TL
  • Own the layout and plan for the dock, identifying staging areas and doors for the day’s carriers.
  • Walk the dock to verify whether shipping volume is meeting projections to carriers, and that the characteristics of the physical freight meets the carrier and service selection for it
  • Advise associates on vendor requirements, care and preservation of product, use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, shipping stock, and related problems.
  • Take action and speak to associates when proper safety, quality, and productivity procedures are not being followed.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management

What You'll Need: 

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a warehouse environment or fast-paced brokerage preferred.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and talent for telling stories with data
  • Ownership mentality and ability to thrive in ambiguity
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence key stakeholders to support proposed strategies, process improvements and operational decisions
  • Resourcefulness and ability to devise creative solutions to problems
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Familiarity with industry technology systems to gather data and problem solve
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written skills
