What You Will Do as the Director of Nursing

As a Stonerise DON, you will be responsible for the overall direction of the nursing department. You will administer, direct, and coordinate services and activities of the nursing department to assure that the highest degree of quality is consistently provided to patients. You will serve as the 'person-in-charge' in the absence of the Administrator. Some of your primary responsibilities include:

  • Working in collaboration with the Administrator in implementing center objectives
  • Providing oversight of all clinical processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, rules, and company standards
  • Contributing to the development and revision of policies, procedures, guidelines, tools, and systems that guide center practices
  • Participating with the center interdisciplinary team in admissions, transfer tracking, discharges, referrals, etc.
  • Promoting maintenance of positive clinical outcomes through daily rounds, program maintenance, coordination of departments and systems, regular contact with patients and families
  • Reviewing metrics related to niche programming and reports to QA&A committee
  • Working in collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, practitioners, therapists, and other professionals to ensure care and services meet or exceed standards
  • Serving as a mentor and role model for the clinical team in the center by providing leadership and facilitating care of the highest standard
  • Ensuring mandated reporting of abuse, neglect, and misappropriation of funds are conducted according to guidelines
  • Overseeing medical records to ensure compliance

Education, Licensure & Certification Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program
  • Active RN license in the state of West Virginia
  • Minimum of one (1) year hands on nursing experience and one (1) year of management experience
  • Competent in nursing systems, processes, and skills
  • Proficient with computers; prefer experience with Point Click Clare (PCC) and Microsoft Office
