SANITATION TECHNICIAN

At Tutta Bella, we are excited about our brand new Culinary Innovation Hub! Located in the SODO neighborhood of Seattle, our Hub is home to our Grab-and-Go artisans who produce our lines of top-quality handmade signature salads, heat-and-eat pastas, signature Neapolitan wood-fired take-n-bake pizzas, and our award-winning tiramisu! Our artisans put in the same care and attention to quality that our guests have come to expect in our restaurants, now available in stores around the Puget Sound including QFC, Fred Meyer, Costco, and Smith Brothers. The Sanitation Technician is responsible for ensuring that our food production facility is cleaned and sanitized in compliance with all WSDA and USDA standards. This includes using USDA approved cleaning chemicals on floors, wall, and equipment. Additionally, the Sanitation Technician plays a lead role in operating our state-of-the-art dishwasher and providing the production team with clean tools.

This position is based in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood at our Culinary Innovation Hub, a purpose-built 15,000 square-foot brand new food production facility. We have employee parking available and are walking distance from the #124 and #132 Metro bus lines.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS:

  • What Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are and how we apply them in our food production processes.
  • How to use our high capacity commercial dishwasher.
  • What utensils, containers, and other tools our production team use.
  • Where and how to store all cleaned utensils, containers and other tools.
  • What food defense is, and how proper sanitation keeps our products safe for our customers.
  • How to clean all of the spaces in our Culinary Innovation Hub including production and warehouse areas.
  • What USDA and WSDA sanitation requirements are for our facility.
  • What our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to sanitation at all stages of production are.
  • How to dispose of all garbage, recycling and compost waste.
  • How to identify and communicate potential hazards in the workplace. 
  • How to be part of maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  • How to handle potentially hazardous cleaning chemicals and use personal protective equipment to use them safely.
  • How to safely use all tools and equipment used in the sanitation of our facility.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work while standing and walking for up to 3 hours without sitting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds regularly without strain.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 80 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to work in spaces where cleaning agents and other chemicals appropriate for a food production facility and warehouse.

Work Environment:

This work creates wet and humid working conditions. This position will regularly work in cold conditions between 36-38 degrees Fahrenheit for extended periods. This position will occasionally work conditions open to the elements such as loading dock and parking lot conditions. All work must be performed wearing required and appropriate safety equipment including slip-resistant shoes, gloves, and eye protection. This position will also need to wear food safety equipment including a lab coat and hairnet.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have sufficient English fluency and literacy to communicate about government food safety standards and chemical warning labels both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States of America (USA).
