Summary

Under the supervision of the Shop Manager, this position operates various shop equipment including saws, cutters, grinders, presses, blasting and passivation and other shop equipment and tools. This position also works with all areas of the shop cleaning, organizing, deburring and assembly as well as other production activities, including assembly, machine operation tasks. This position will also perform functions of Materials Handling and inventory.

Responsibilities:

• Performs typical shop operations to support the manufacturing, production and fabrication of parts & equipment.
• Must have an attention to detail and high-quality standards.
• Perform general laborer tasks as needed.
• Tends one or more machine tools, special-purpose machines, or industrial equipment to machine and fabricate work pieces to specifications on a production basis.
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the management.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required.
• Must be able to perform the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, deburring, forming, blasting, passivation and all bench operations.
• Must be willing to accept and receive supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up, training, and feedback on areas for improvement.
• Must be able to operate with minimal supervision once trained by following work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Wear proper personal protective equipment and comply with safety rules at all times.
• Make a positive contribution to maintaining a healthy, safe, and neat workplace.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work on-site and have reliable transportation.
• Ability to understand basic math.
• Experience using basic hand tools.
• Experience using power tools, such as chop saw, table saw, hand drill.
• Ability to recognize and solve practical problems.
• Demonstrate ability to adjust and learn from mistakes.
• Body movements include walking, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending, and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
