Basic Overview of Job Role, Responsibilities, and expectations:

The QC inspector's primary responsibility is to manage the everyday current production and quality containment of all working parts to meet quality control standards. This includes but is not limited to:

1st piece and last piece complete checks of all current production parts

Hourly checks of all current production parts which includes checking the parts on gages and signing operator check sheets

Checks should include coil change parts.

QC inspectors should ensure the gage they are using is properly calibrated and records are in place. Before a gage is left at a press operation station, QC inspector should ensure operator knows how to properly use the gage. QC inspector should ensure the gage is in working condition and a sample piece is available for the operator to reference. QC inspector should ensure the sample piece matches the masterpiece and that all documentation of any deviation is in place.

QC inspectors are all responsible for maintaining the sort area. If downtime occurs, inspectors should be sorting parts and documenting completion of any sorts.

QC inspector is to follow all safety rules and procedures set in place when working in all areas. QC Inspector is responsible for maintain the QC office in a clean, organized, and free of potential safety hazards at all times. QC Inspector should ensure that all completed work is accessible, documented and communicated for the next inspector as well as management team.

Experience and skills required: must be comfortable with tablet/smart phone and computer work. Must be able to read and identify numbers, blue prints and various instructions. Keen attention to detail and proven ability to produce high- quality output with extreme attention to detail. Must be able to communicate with different type of personalities and job roles.

Equipment and machinery: Gages, calipers, computer programs including but not limited to ERP system, Microsoft office, tablets and other tools at times.

Training and performance measurements: QC inspector is given appropriate amount of time to acclimate to job and demands. Performance evaluations are based on effort and continuous improvement to ensure quality of work. Company policy is a 28-day probationary period. Job is an individual job but depends on constant contact with operators, packers, and other employees throughout the work day. Coworkers are in relatively close proximity, and teamwork and good employee relations is necessary.

There are errors that employees can make, such as incorrectly gaging parts, incorrect documentation, and other simple mistakes. Employees are required to admit mistakes and ask for guidance. Employees who seek continuous improvement are not disciplined for unintentional first time mistakes, however intentional misconduct or going around procedures in place can be subject to discipline up to and including termination.
