Position: Remote Forensic Electrical Engineer (located in Central US preferably)
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conducting observation and inspection of losses that may be caused by electrical system failures
Collecting and examining data at the site of a loss
Consulting relevant codes, standards, and regulations
Documenting evidence and other investigation findings
Ability to photograph damage and evidence related to fires, explosions, or other losses
Determining and conducting appropriate tests and data acquisition of exemplar and artifacts in the field and in laboratories
Conducting laboratory-based examinations
Providing system failure analyses
Researching and writing expert reports
Interviewing witnesses, property owners, and building occupants to obtain information during an investigation
Testifying in court cases involving investigated losses
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Maintaining a well-organized system to account for various processed information
Understanding and application of the scientific method in loss investigation
Remaining up-to-date in the subjects listed as 'requisite knowledge' for fire investigations in NFPA 1033
Ability to travel as required
Ability to navigate fire and explosion scenes, crawl, climb, and use ladders
Obtaining and maintaining appropriate PPE certifications
Ability to analyze the site of a loss and develop a list of possible failures
Knowledge of electrical systems
EDUCATION
A Bachelors' degree in Electrical Engineering is required. Professional Engineering Registration is also required. Preferred qualifications include a minimum of 4-6 years of relevant investigative experience.
