We are currently seeking a CNC Operator for a position in the Reading, PA area. This is a full-time direct hire opportunity.

Experience and Skills :

• Must have knowledge and experience operating a variety of department machines, such as CNC machines, CNC lathes, cylindrical grinders, milling machines, engine lathe, tracer lathe, crush foam grinder, drill press, EDM equipment, Bridgeport mill, radial arm drill press, measuring tools, and optical comparator
• Working knowledge of reference calibration standards and electrodes
• Proficient in CNC programming and able to make changes to CNC programs
• Strong understanding of shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques
• Understanding of testing procedures and guidelines
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Positive attitude and excellent communication skills for seamless collaboration
• Ability to adapt to fast-paced and dynamic work environments
• Mindset focused on continuous improvement and ability to suggest process enhancements
• Capable of working with various machines and tools, contributing to a team approach in problem-solving

Responsibilities :

• Independently operate department equipment, demonstrating a solid understanding of testing procedures and guidelines (excluding NDT & RCBs)
• Perform machining of test specimens and parts using CNC and other lathes
• Set up and operate cylindrical grinders to produce low-stress ground test specimens
• Machine blank samples into reference standards based on provided blueprints or drawings, while documenting all relevant information
• Manufacture, maintain, or machine jigs, fixtures, or parts as needed for the Met Lab or other departmental requirements
• Calibrate movements on milling machines, electric discharge machines, surface roughness indicators, and micrometer sets
• Read lab travelers and determine furnace utilization
• Report any out-of-calibration conditions (as found) to supervision
• Take on additional duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements :

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
• Proficient in MS Office, including Outlook and Word
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks
• Ability to make sound decisions independently
• Capability to operate department equipment with minimal supervision
