Sterling St James is Hiring an Engineeing Program Manager Near Orangeburg, SC

The position of Engineering Program Manager is available at our Orangeburg, South Carolina location. The main responsibilities of this role include planning and designing complex manufacturing processes within our industrial plant. The engineer in this role will have full technical responsibility for organizing and conducting independent technical projects to support manufacturing operations such as machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and material handling.

Responsibilities:

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating, planning, coordinating, and executing New Product Introductions (NPIs) specifically for the Orangeburg location
  • Managing activities, schedules, resources, budgets, and effectively communicating with a cross-functional team consisting of manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, materials, and production throughout the implementation process of new projects
  • Providing complex advisory support in the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of manufacturing operations
  • Conceiving and planning projects that involve major production activities, exploration of product and/or process problems, and the definition and selection of new concepts and approaches in manufacturing operations
  • Conducting independent technical investigations that involve the application of complex technical principles
  • Evaluating test and production data, preparing technical analysis, and recommending manufacturing methods and processes to meet design objectives for new or improved products and/or processes
  • Coordinating complex technical matters related to assembly drawing interpretation, Engineering Change Notices, rework, manufacturing difficulties, and specifications
  • Serving as a liaison with other departments to secure specialized resources and contributions for the project
  • Selecting and managing the activities of contractors to ensure they are integrated into the project and the organization receives satisfactory standards of service
  • Conducting project meetings and preparing reports to communicate project status within and beyond the project team
  • Participating in or leading various projects as needed, which may involve manufacturing capacity, cost out initiatives, productivity, or other business objectives
  • Acting as the lead advocate for product design optimization for manufacturing, requiring extensive product knowledge across all platforms
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Minimum of 5 years related experience required.
  • Understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Experience with analytical and CAD software.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Must be familiar with or possess the ability to gain familiarity with all assembly and fabrication processes across all residential facilities in order to provide input for design/manufacturing optimization
  • Detail-oriented individual to effectively track project schedules and capital spending
  • Ability to multitask, as multiple projects/responsibilities will be in process at any time
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams and responsibilities, and the ability to influence groups to work towards common goals
  • Expert knowledge of mechanical and manufacturing theory and design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
