Sterling St James is Hiring a Die Casting Production Supervisor Near Carrollton, GA

Our established company, located in southwest suburban Atlanta, is a leader in manufacturing and holds a significant portion of the U.

S. market share. We are currently seeking a skilled Manufacturing Supervisor for our Die Casting department due to our company's growth.

This is a day shift position, typically from 6 : 00am to 4 : 30pm, with some flexibility in hours. In addition to a competitive salary range and generous bonus potential, we offer a comprehensive benefit package that includes a K with a % match to 5%.

Relocation assistance is also available for qualified candidates. The Die Casting department is responsible for producing finished products using zinc die casting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of approximately 20 employees, troubleshooting die equipment, ensuring quality control, and coordinating production planning and scheduling.

GENERAL SUMMARY :

As a Manufacturing Supervisor - Die Casting , you will oversee all operations within the Die Casting department, including quality of production, employee management, safety regulations, and daily production standards.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Maintain and enforce safety regulations within the department.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the department.
  • Resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances in collaboration with management or subordinates.
  • Participate in the hiring process by reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions or recommendations.
  • Provide training, counseling, and disciplinary action as necessary to employees within the department.
  • Coordinate operations and activities within or between departments by collaborating with other supervisors.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects within the Supervisors department.
  • Complete Time and Attendance tasks within the department using Microsoft Dynamics AX.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Maintain organization of surrounding workspace (6s).
  • Perform regular cycle counts and other inventory controls to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
  • Observe work and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.

DEPARTMENTAL SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : (In addition to the above listed duties and responsibilities, the Manufacturing Supervisor may have departmental specific duties and responsibilities as noted)

Die Cast : (Reports to Plant Manager)

Responsible for ensuring the quality of castings through adjustments in casting cycle times, lubrication of dies, preheating of dies, and / or process parameters.

Assist in troubleshooting machinery within the department.

  • Supervise operation of all equipment in the Die Cast department, including Die Cast Machines, Trim Presses, Laundry System, and Melting Furnace.
  • Analyze, organize, and plan production to meet customer needs.
  • Perform data entry via production reports on a daily basis.
  • Ensure accurate and complete timekeeping in a timely manner.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects, Gemba walks, 6S audits, and layered process audits within the department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve and improve production-related issues.
  • Document training events within the department and ensure their implementation.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor's Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, or three to five years of related experience and / or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in high pressure die casting (HPDC) such as zinc, aluminum, or equivalent.

Experience in high pressure aluminum die casting is preferred.

  • Three to five years' experience in troubleshooting HPDC machinery.
  • Three to five years' experience in quality control within a die casting environment, with the ability to identify defects and determine root causes.
  • Three to five years' experience using MRP / ERP software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
  • Experience in reading, interpreting, and writing reports and correspondence, as well as effectively communicating with customers and employees.
  • Experience applying mathematical concepts to practical situations.
  • Experience solving practical problems and interpreting instructions in various forms.

This job requires regular standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing. It also involves the ability to quickly manipulate objects with your hands, including grasping and assembling.

Additionally, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

This job involves working in a loud manufacturing environment. Hearing protection may be required in some departments.
