Banquet Captain Job Description
REPORTS TO: Catering & Event Concierge, GM (Marlow’s Tavern), & Director of Sales
DEPARTMENT: Banquet Operations
GENERAL PURPOSE
Lead Banquet Team in the serving of guests during banquet functions to achieve the ultimate guest experience through quality and compliance with Marlow’s Tavern and Legacy Hotel Partners policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBLITIES

Participate in all special project. Task forces, in house meetings and committees, as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within catering, food and beverage and hospitality professions. This includes our guest’s needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of guest satisfaction. Know meeting room setups and capabilities and have ability to make occasional decisions which are generally guided by established policies and procedures. Good oral and communication skills. Must have professional appearance and attitude.
Skills
Excellent hearing necessary for verbal interactions with guests and associates.
Excellent vision necessary to view setups.
Excellent speech communication skills required for verbal interaction with guests and associates.
Excellent literacy necessary to read BEOs.
Abilities
Lifting pushing, pulling, and carrying tables, chairs, boxes (50lb. maximum) occasionally.
Bending/kneeling required for taping down cords, skirting tables, picking up floor after function, occasionally.
Mobility- ability to service clients on a moment’s notice, variable distance 100%.
Continuous standing- function observation, client site inspections.
Climbing stairs
Driving- distance varies
Education/ Formal Training
One to two years of post-high school education.
Experience
Two to three years in a related position with this company or other organizations(s).
Material/Equipment Used
Operation of computer, Telephone, calculator and vacuum.
