Stephens & Smith Construction is Hiring an Estimator Near Omaha, NE

Stephens & Smith Construction is currently seeking a full-time dynamic and motivated Estimator to join our team. This position will support and work with Project Managers in a variety of tasks to include accurate bidding of residential and commercial work along with assisting in daily operations or tasks as delegated by the Department Head. They are responsible for upholding The Company's quality and safety standards, as well as maintaining a commitment to professional work ethics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes plans and specifications to prepare accurate budget estimates for construction expenses.
  • Addresses cost discrepancies through thorough analysis and information gathering.
  • Creates comprehensive bids for construction projects, considering all relevant factors and requirements.
  • Effectively navigates and comprehends building codes to ensure compliance and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Handles administrative paperwork efficiently and travels to building sites as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.

  • Exhibiting strong adaptability to thrive both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of construction experience
  • Associates Degree in related field

Physical Demands

Definitions: Based on 8-12 hours per day

Continually 70-100% Regularly 50-70%

Periodically 20-50% Rarely – less than 20%

  • Rarely endures persistent standing and walking.
  • Continually required to use hands, fingers and wrist to operate office equipment and computers.
  • Rarely reach with hands and arms.
  • Continually required to speak and listen.
  • Rarely lifting supplies and materials that weigh up to 20 pounds.
  • Sensory Demands: Regularly long hours in intense concentration, and long hours on the computer entering accounting information which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Continually utilize specific vision abilities required to perform the essential functions of the job, i.e., close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Mental Demands: Regularly works under pressure meeting project schedules and budget guidelines.
