SUMMARY : To install, maintain and repair machine tools, mechanical equipment and electronic apparatus

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Operates and observes equipment for the purpose of trouble shooting problems and testing performance of equipment.
• Reads work orders and sees that jobs are performed per work order. Asks questions if work order is not clear.
• Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Repairs equipment rebuilds equipment and adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Installs equipment, devices, and instruments.
• Performs preventative maintenance such as lubricating equipment, changing filters, inspecting parts for wear and cleaning equipment.

Logs preventative maintenance activity in preventative maintenance program records.

• Working with supervisor, initiates purchase orders for parts and equipment.
• Makes an entry to logbook. Logbook documents problems and serves as the maintenance record for the plant and equipment.
• Understands plant labeling requirements and sees that all chemicals are properly labeled and managed.
• Recommends measures to improve equipment performance and maintenance activities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Ability to read, write and speak English so that individual can document problems in log, can read technical manuals and parts catalogues.
• Requires a minimum of three years prior experience as a maintenance mechanic, technical courses, and ability to perform basic math and to use measurements and the ability to read blueprints and / or schematics.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT :

• Frequently work near moving mechanical parts
• Frequently work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals
• Occasionally / Frequently / Continually exposure to heat or cold
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and to work in uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods.
• Must be able to wear a respirator and / or other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary to reduce exposure.
