Job description:
As the Butcher, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, freshness, and safety of our meat products. Your role will handle the cuts, trims and packages for meat for retail sales. You’ll work closely with our customers, fellow team members, and suppliers to deliver exceptional service and maintain high standards.

This role is based out our manufacturing location in Fort Worth, Texas.
Responsibilities:
· Cuts, grinds, trims, and packages fresh meat products according to proper procedure to ensure product quantity, quality and freshness.
· Operates meat processing equipment.
· Uses hand tools and power equipment to cut meat to specifications.
· Tenderizes, packages, weighs, labels, and prices meat products.
· Labels meat package to indicate cut, grade, preparation date, best-by date, and other relevant information.
· Maintains the sharpness, cleanliness, and sterilization of knives and tools.
· Ensures preparation areas are kept clean.
· Closely follows all safety and sanitation procedures.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
· Minimum of three years of experience in meat cutting, packaging, and food handling.
· Thorough understanding of types, cuts, and preparation methods of meat.
· Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, applicable food handling and sanitation requirements.
· Ability to use knives, scales, and other implements safely and with precision.
· Ability to concentrate on a singular task.
· Must be able to operate related equipment including scales, knives, band saws, meat tenderizers, meat slicers, and grinder.
· Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe, accurate completion of work activities. Requires knowledge of basic math, weights and measures.
· Familiarity with USDA guidelines.
· Good verbal communication skills.
Other Job Requirements:
· Ability to work around and with raw meat.
· Ability to work in cold and wet environment (38-40 degrees) for multiple hours.
· Ability to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time.
· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
· Ability to work in a repetitive and fast paced environment.
· Ability to rotate through various positions/tasks.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
· Excellent hand-eye coordination.
