Required Qualifications
  • Must be a current SUNY Cortland student
  • GPA: Though not directly providing academic assistance, having had success as a student helps to provide a model and inspiration for academic work.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership to students in making the transition from high school to a college environment; in being away from home, in being a model of successful adjustment to SUNY Cortland.
  • Maturity and fairness: Ability to consistently apply the requirements, rules, and curfews fairly and objectively to all program students as a staff member, with kind supportiveness.
  • Understanding: Understand and promote the mission and practices of EOP, the necessities of what we do and the high expectations held for students and staff
  • Teamwork: Understanding your role as a member of a team; following directions and adjustments as offered by the EOP staff.
  • Relationship appropriateness: Staff must not develop favorites or strong friendships with the students until the program is over. Maintaining a friendly distance is essential while ensuring that all students are inspired to follow the guidelines without exception.
