Office and Role Overview:
As the Nursing Consultant – Public Health (NCPH), you will be integral to the Office of Family and Community Health Improvement (OFCHI), a team that embraces values of accountability, empathy, and strategic thinking. Situated within the Sexual and Reproductive Health Program (SRHP), your role involves leading pivotal initiatives such as the Abortion Access Project (AAP) and the Increasing Access to Reproductive Choice Project (IARC). Reporting to the Program Manager, you will spearhead policy development and ensure the provision of high-quality health and prevention services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the AAP and IARC projects within the SRHP, setting strategic direction and operational benchmarks.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate project policies and procedures with input from team members and approval from management to expand abortion services effectively.
  • Regularly update the SRHP Manager and department leadership on the progress and impacts of both projects.
  • Establish yourself as a subject matter expert on abortion issues, staying informed on the latest developments and standards.
  • Work closely with the SRHP Clinical Consultant to advise and monitor clinical practices at contracted agencies, ensuring adherence to high standards of abortion care.
  • Foster strong partnerships with both internal and external collaborators to support and improve abortion services across the state.
  • Coordinate with the Office of Public Affairs and Education (OPAE) to develop and refine social media and communication strategies, raising public awareness about the projects.
  • Develop community advisory groups to gather and utilize local insights and feedback about project impacts.
  • Collaborate with the program epidemiologist to analyze data, address service discrepancies, and compile comprehensive reports for health authorities.
  • Supervise and mentor the AAP HSC 3 contract manager, overseeing all related administrative and operational tasks.
Work Location:
This position is based in Tumwater, WA, and offers a flexible/hybrid work arrangement with the option to tele-work or utilize our modern drop-in workstations, while enjoying the occasional in-person collaboration opportunities (approx. one in-person meeting per quarter).

Required Qualifications
The experience described below could have been gained concurrently and acquired through paid or unpaid activities.Please make sure to highlight your relevant experience in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
AND
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a sexual and reproductive health field.
AND
  • Previously or currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Washington State.
AND
  • Bachelor’s degree in either nursing (including or supplemented by approved curriculum in public health nursing) or public health from a university program approved by the American Public Health Association.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a sexual and reproductive health clinic.
  • A master’s degree in public health, health care administration, public or business administration, or allied field and four years of professional management or consultative experience in a health services program.
  • Current knowledge regarding activities and projects occurring in Medicaid, health care reform and the ACA, related to the sexual and reproductive health arena.
