Full Time | Permanent
Salary Range: $5,479 - $7,368 Monthly

This is a full time telework position. Work may be performed anywhere within the State of Washington. Travel is required.

As the Investigator 3, you would be responsible independently conducting the most complex and difficult investigations relating to sensitive and controversial cases within the Department. The scope of investigations ranges from criminal activity, sexual misconduct, discrimination, systematic issues and more. You would conduct the investigation from start to finish therefore your communication, both written and verbal, must be spot on.
This unique, yet critical, position allows for independently gathering facts, and analyzing information and evidence, and putting forth an unbiased comprehensive report regarding the details of your investigation. Duties

As an Investigator 3, some of your duties will include:
  • Independently conducts the most complex and difficult investigations relating to sensitive and controversial cases within the Department which could look like:
    • Maintains an independent caseload of workplace investigations
    • Functions as an impartial investigator and conduct the most complex, difficult, and sensitive, and at times controversial investigations.
    • Conduct fair and thorough administrative investigative interviews with staff or other potential witnesses involving HR- related issues, staff misconduct, staff sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, or other high profile, systemic, and/or complex issues requiring investigation within the Department as necessary
  • Investigations Program, Volunteers, and Training including
    • Collaboratively assists in developing and delivering training regarding employee investigations, PREA investigations, and fact-finding review processes and procedures to local staff investigators within the Department
    • Mentor, advise, and train a team of local investigators who conduct sensitive and/or complex HR- related and employee misconduct investigations and/or reviews within the Department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What we need (required qualifications):
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience in conducting investigations which include:
    • Witness interviews including Union represented interviews
    • Gathering, preserving, and analyzing facts, information, and evidence
    • Developing written reports.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe
**College level coursework in business administration, public administration, law, one of the criminal justice disciplines, or directly allied field may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience on the basis of two years of college work for one year of experience

  • Tuberculosis (TB) is a priority health issue for DOC employees. The successful candidate may be required to provide valid proof of a baseline TB skin test within 60 days from the date of hire. When positive tests result, further information, testing and treatment will also be required. Employment is not contingent upon test results.
  • Foreign equivalent degrees awarded outside the United States must have a credential evaluation report attached to your application. You may request the required evaluation/documentation from www.wes.org and www.aice-eval.org. Until this documentation is provided, you will not be selected to move forward in the hiring process.
Telework Details
This position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a “drop in” area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
