The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development is the state agency established to promote workforce development and improve workplace safety and health throughout the state.

How you make a difference in this role:

Assist with the writing and interpretation of policy/guidance, development of standard operating procedures, and seeking grant opportunities.

Job Overview:

Responsible for assisting the WFS Policy & Governance Manager in establishing policy and procedures in coordination with partner programs. This position will also assist the State Workforce Development Board and Local Workforce Development Boards in pursuing funding opportunities through grant writing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for assisting the development of policy and procedures for the Workforce Services Division
• Manage workload to fulfill assigned responsibilities
• Create or revise State Workforce Development Board policies and guidance
• Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures for the Workforce Services Division
• Assist efforts in seeking grant opportunities that complement workforce goals and strategies
• In partnership with the Job Seeker Operations Unit, assist in developing policy, procedures, and/or guidance that support programs seeking training and employment opportunities.
• In partnership with the Employer Operations Unit, assist in developing policy, procedures, and/or guidance that support efforts to provide services to business and industry partners seeking qualified employees.
• Required Experience:
• One years of increasingly responsible professional grants or policy experience with the State of Tennessee.
• Familiarity with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
• Experience working with Regional Workforce Boards, American Job Centers, Community Based Organizations, or other state agencies.
• Well-organized with excellent follow through ability.
• Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Considerable oral and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Business, English, Language Arts, Political Science, Pre-law, Public Administration, Social Work, or related field.
