Job Duties:
  • The Policy Program Coordinator II provides technical assistance to functional areas in the policy development process and is responsible for the coordination of policy, forms, work aids, and other related aspects of policy. The Policy Coordinator drafts and refines the Agency's policies in an effort to provide and maintain clear, useful, and accessible guidance for Agency staff, ensuring policy is driven by the Agency's mission and reinforces the Agency's guiding principles and values.
  • Responds to gaps in policy knowledge and usability by refining policy and/or engaging with functional areas as needed.
  • Engages with subject-matter experts to identify vision and requirements for policy refinements, providing guidance to subject-matter experts when requested using best practice standards as a guide. Communicate these needs and work in collaboration with the policy staff to create and update policy.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains a tracking mechanism for the policy cycle accessible to internal SCDSS staff to include tracking of revisions, publication, archiving of policies and forms.
  • Plans and implements evaluation measures for policy accessibility and policy knowledge by Agency staff.
  • Maintains knowledge of forms and policy needs across the Agency.
  • Drafts and refines policy, to align with subject matter experts' vision, federal and state requirements, and with the Agency's mission and values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared, and disposed. Protects the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment, and data.
  • Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree and experience with policy, technical writing, or other relevant experience.
Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, procedures and best practices related to social services programs. Excellent problem solving and analytic skills. Ability to compose and refine professional, directive documents. Ability to organize, embed links, and publish professional PDFs, Ability to demonstrate organizational agility and the ability to navigate a fast-paced environment.
