What You'll Do:
Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio State Highway Patrol
Report In Location - 4201 Gateway Blvd, Springfield 45502
Performs skilled & semiskilled maintenance, replacement, installation & repair of electrical equipment (e.g., switches, receptacles, light fixtures, small motors & equipment, wiring, fire alarms, fans, electrical circuits); performs skilled & semiskilled maintenance, replacement, installation & repair of plumbing equipment (e.g., sewer pipes, plumbing lines or fixtures, regulators, toilets, sinks, valves, faucets, heating & air conditioning, pipes, drinking fountains); performs carpentry work involving skilled & semiskilled maintenance, alteration &/or repair of buildings, equipment & wood structures (e.g., windows, doors, floors, roofs, walls, woodwork, partitions); performs basic painting (e.g., walls, ceilings, cabinets); prepares surfaces for painting (e.g., plasters, patches, sands); Makes repairs (e.g., generator, power car wash, lawn tractor, & small appliances such as sander, router or grinder). Operates state vehicle to transport various equipment, tools, parts, materials & supplies (e.g., radios, electrical wires, light bulbs, paint, shovel) to various locations throughout the state or to transport vehicle to dealership for service or repair.
Performs minor custodial duties (e.g., cleans carpets & drapes, dusts office furniture & fixtures, cleans &/or waxes floors, vacuums & shampoos carpeting, washes windows, cleans restrooms & refinishes &/or waxes wood trim & fixtures; performs general exterior grounds keeping duties (e.g., cuts grass, trims hedges, rakes leaves, removes snow & ice from sidewalks).
Performs minor maintenance on Division vehicles, such as replacing bulbs, changing oil, changing wheels & tires, washes vehicles); performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor (e.g., assists in preparing requisitions for supplies & stores said supplies).

QualificationsFormal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in maintenance repair work (e.g., basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment); in Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry only, applicants must have successfully completed the mandated basic firefighter/introduction to fire behavior course (S-130/S-190); in accordance with section 124.11 (B) (2) of revised code, Director Of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination. Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.
