What You Will Do:
Position Description:
Receives, inspects and records new materials, supplies, and equipment arriving in District Traffic for distribution (e.g., signs and sign hardware, lighting poles, arms and luminaries). Dispenses materials and records transactions; maintains accurate records of all incoming and outgoing equipment and supplies; schedules, prepares and assists with loading and unloading of supplies and equipment for shipment or delivery to various facilities in District; maintains perpetual inventory of supplies (e.g., traffic signal equipment, signs and sign hardware).
Processes purchase orders, requisitions, encumbrances and vouchers for supplies, equipment and contract services (e.g., cable and wire, signal heads, luminaries). Maintains files for requisitions and purchase orders; assists with budget preparation and invoicing; monitors inventory and follows departmental procedures in purchasing equipment and material to maintain proper stock.
Recommends removal of obsolete or worn out equipment from inventory. Operates and maintains new computerized inventory control system; completes internal maintenance forms for tracking labor, equipment, and material use (e.g., MR-502, MR-503, AU-62); enters daily maintenance records into computer programs (Excel, Quattro Pro, Paradox, Traffic Inventory Management System) used to track the daily material used and work performed on traffic control devices. Takes inventory of chosen areas on regular basis (e.g., Traffic stockroom); coordinates and balances warehouse inventory (e.g. surplus salvage equipment provided to other districts). Prepares statistical reports from inventory information (e.g., signal lamp replacement rates, cost of maintenance by county).
Keeps records of expenditures for utilities and prepares related reports (e.g., cost per location vs budgeted amount) ; uses a computer and database software ( Paradox ) to maintain and update current field inventories of traffic control devices and equipment (e.g., signals, signs, lighting), including power service locations and associated meter numbers and account numbers for each power service.
Coordinates complete inventory of supply area and annual inventory of District Traffic equipment; attends and participates in training sessions and meetings when requested by supervisor. Performs variety of miscellaneous duties as assigned, including preparation of timekeeping records and answering telephone calls.

Hours may vary based on operational need.
All bargaining unit hires must serve a one year probationary period.
This position is overtime eligible per FLSA Standards.
If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract.
Background Check InformationThe final applicant accepted for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to appointment to test for illegal drug use. Medical marijuana is prohibited as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment, per section 3719.01 & 3719.41 of Ohio revised code.
