The Ohio Department of Health supports a hybrid teleworking model. This position may work a hybrid schedule at the discretion of the manager or supervisor, which will require occasional attendance in the office for training, meetings and other operational needs. Employees must reside within a reasonable distance to their assigned headquarters for compliance with workplace reporting requirements.

What You'll Do:

The Ohio Department of Health is seeking a Data Administration Manager 1 to join the Office of Informatics, Data, Epidemiology, and Analytics (IDEA). The Data Administration Manager 1 will participate as part of a team of public health informatics and program staff to develop, publish, and enforce policies regarding data administration. This position will also act as a coordinator of electronic case reporting (eCR) of reportable diseases for ODH. Additional duties may include:

  • Recruit healthcare providers and laboratories to participate in eCR.
  • Creates, modifies, publishes, and enforces policies related to eCR enrollment, certification, data administration, and management.
  • Act as a liaison between ODH programs, eCR developers, and network staff to identify, describe, and prioritize system improvements to meet the needs of ODH.
  • Act as lead for the testing and validation of Health Level 7 (HL7) formatted electronic reports using a variety of software applications and knowledge of ELR/eCR implementation guides and ODH’s disease reporting requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and update a list of logical observation identifiers name and codes (LOINC) that correspond to reportable diseases in Ohio.
  • Represents the Office of IDEA with outside constituency groups on matters related to eCR and data standards.

Qualifications

Completion of undergraduate core program in business or public administration or data processing/computer science/information systems technology; 2 yrs. exp. or 2 yrs. trg. in which included responsibility for developing standards for new & existing data definition, product evaluation, recommending software selection, design & development of data bases to include security measures/controls & how data is to be accumulated maintained, archived & removed from system.

Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 14, Step 1 of the Exempt Pay Range Schedule ($35.74 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($37.78) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
